I am so looking forward to Alex's next class. Paper piecing has scared the bejeepers out of me for years. I too am dyslexic so I know Alex will be a great help. Thank you for providing the PDF download of the book. I live in Canada so shipping is an issue with quite a few American companies. Now if you can just figure out how to send PDF fabric (LOL).

I am using Alex's class to design a background for a couple patterns that I started and they ended up in the UFO drawer in the
fabric closet a couple years back. Plan to use fabric from my stash and use EQ8 to get the basic design sizes. Alex said the square in a square would
be the first block. I was thinking I could put a set of 4 on each side of the fox and a row of flying geese under the fox. I will just
play add on, as I make paper pieced blocks. I already know how to paper piece, but it is always fun to try something new and
see what other are doing. HelenW

Hi everyone! I was too late to purchase a kit. I am waiting for my book. Is there a list of fabrics needed anywhere so I can start putting it together with my stash. Even a list of how much was in the kit would work. Thanks in advance.

Ellen B, The list of fabrics need was under the LEARN tab at the top of the screen. Then go to Alex Live, and continue to click
until you get to it. Here is a screenshot. HelenW

I have a lot of charm packs. Used some of these for the first blocks.

Trial and Error ideas. I am using the FPP class to try out new ideas. Thought I would share what I am doing as the class goes on.
My applique is from 2 patterns and I plan to tie them together with FPP blocks. Playing add on as I go. I am using flying geese as my
first experiment. I took a flying geese block from EQ8, cut the geese units apart so I could align with with a curved seam at top of
fox scene. I taped them to tracing paper and then printed the on vellum. Then used the regular FPP method to stitch them. Worked well.
Thought by sharing what I am doing it might help beginner FPP quilters to see what other options are out there. I do plan to use the
square in a square too. HelenW

Some tips of things that has made paper piecing easier for me. I use a size 90 needle. It makes a bigger hole in the paper
which makes it easier to rip off. I back stitch at the beginning and end of each line because when you tear back the paper
so you can use your add a quarter for the next cut it does not take out the first few stitches leaving the edges not secured.
I use a dab of glue stick instead of pins. it works well and is way easier to position the fabrics. I use the vellum paper because
you can catch placement errors before they happen. Also, because you can see thru, If you don't want to have the reverse
mirror image. You can get the same image as the picture, by just stitching on the lines on the side you did not print on. You
can still see the lines. Hope some of these help you. There are a lot of different ways to FPP and different strokes for different folks applies here. HelenW

My blocks so far..2 more to go..I’m more of a blender person..maybe after the other two are done and we go on to another block I may mix colors more..but I’m really liking my choices so far. First time paper piecing so far I’m enjoying every step.
