I'm in for the party! Should I buy something hot pink, like Lois and cropped pants! Maybe I'll post a new pic of me with my new red glasses! We could all do "a something for Lorchen's BD project" and post it in show and tell, or send it to her ! Oh-oh, my right brain is working overtime!!!

Let's have a party for Lorchen. Wherever we are we will party for Lorchen and post how we celebrated. It's Mother's Day in the USA this weekend and since my kids are both far away and I don't want to grieve their absence (It's so hard not too.) I'd much rather celebrate Lorchen's birthday. Yeah! Now I know why I purchased that new hot pink jacket and crop pants. It's for Lorchen's birthday party. I can't wait. How are you going to celebrate Lorchen's birthday? I am going to do something completely and totally right brain and I will do something to anesthetize the left. Now how does a person anesthetize the left? Rita, any ideas?
Great idea, Lois!! And I'll bet Lorchen has some pretty good ideas about how to anesthetize the left brain Perhaps something to do with single malt? (and I don't think that's a milkshake!). In any case, I'm definitely in!!

If it is a birthday party, are we going to 'play pass the parcel'? It is one of my favourites.

We also play 'hunt the thimble' at DD's partys.

I think that I have both brains too, But what I really need is a 'Get 'Er Finshed' brain! instead of a 'Lets Start Something New' brain. I've just decided to add making a copy of the 1718 Coverlet to my list of projects  http://www.quiltmuseum.org.uk/blog/q...les/01265.html
Rosemary, That quilt is amazing. I think it might take a lifetime to collect and choose the fabrics. Have you started that? Lois
Half the life time will be taken up working out the design. Some of them are easy to see, but others are much harder and I don't have a good large picture of the piece. What I would like would be a book with the outline drawings of each block(pref to size) facing a colour photo of the block. The original was worked a piecing over papers, but I am sure that other methods would also work. The mildly annoying part is that the design has already been drawn up to make the copy.

Rosemary, Have you been to the museum? Is it possible to see the quilt in person? How did Pam Holland do research for that replication of a really old quilt she did? I wish I could remember where I saw her talk about it. Lois

That was the museum Lorna & I visited in March, it is just over 25 miles from me. I think it was on display some years ago when I first visited, but whether I saw the original or the replica I don't recall. As the article states it is being carefully stored and will only come out on very special occasions. I don't know if you can make appointments to view it, but it is probably possible.

Yes, I definitely think a single malt will definitely feature in her birthday celebrations;-) What a great idea to party with her. I am trying to get back into quilting again so it is great incentive for this procrastinator to get back into it.
                    Have a great 60th Lorchen!!!

Just one malt? How about a red malt (tomatoe juice), my favorite.
Lorchen, Happy Birthday!! celebrate like a rock star.

                      Happy Mothers Day to all

Horlicks???!!!! Rosemary, I'll have that when my 90th birthday comes along.

I'm intending to have fun all weekend, because, being German, we also make a bit of a fuss about this coming Sunday (German Mother's Day). I was actually born on a Sunday, made it with less than 10 minutes to spare, and it was Mother's Day in 1952.

I have three little packages waiting here. So, if you post a picture here of either you in party gear, or the textile project you have been having fun with on Saturday and/or Sunday, I'll pop the names (if there are more than three) in a hat (no, not the wedding fascinator, Rosemary) and let my son pick three names. How about it? You have till Sunday night. I'll only do the draw when I come back from work on Monday.

My dad was German and they always made a big thing of the 60th birthday. I bought some fabric today, but nothing hot pink, like Lois yet! I'm working on it!! There is an outlet store near here - I'm sure they should do hot pink. I'll keep u updated. Wow! My first International Birthday Party!!

Hey, what's going on here! I take my eye off you for a couple of days and there's a party going on! So tomorrow's the day Lorchen? Well I guess I will just have to dust off something suitable to wear. A whiskey sour for me thanks!

                                Pass the parcel!

Ok I've worked out a variation that should be do-able  We start with a picture of a parcel and instead of unwrapping it, we add layers of decoration to it (or around it)
Step 1: Post 'I've got it' - only one person can have it at a time!
Step 2: right click on the photo, then click 'save picture as' (put it some where you can find it easily!)
Step 3: open the picture in your favourite picture editing program and add to the picture (try not to completely obliterate all that has gone before)
Step 4: re-post your newly enhanced picture. Title your post 'available' Try not to take too long between your first and second posts.

Now is everyone sitting comfortably? and we'll begin....
