Hope it's ok to resurrect an old thread. But Yvonne is totally inspiring, not only her work but also in the way she's faced illness.

I watched this show on a wet horrible afternoon a few weeks ago and then scribbled a drawing of myself and made a quick little quilt inspired by her and giggled the afternoon away. This is a link to it.

So I recommend watching this show and having a play.

Twiglet, I couldn't get the link to work. But I agree with you about Yvonne Porcella - I found her inspirational too. If you look at my profile you can see a couple of faces I did after watching the show too!

Twiglet, love the self-portrait - it's a work of art! And the Avatar is wonderful too. I just made a sheep quilt! Love sheep. Thanks BJ.

Rita and Twiglet--how did I miss the Yvonne Porcella episode? Love the faces both of you did--so colorful, so much fun to stitch, I am sure. I just finished watching Melinda Bula; it will be Yvonne Porcella this evening for me. Thank you!

                You'll enjoy it.

Rita what did you friend say when you gave her the drum face with spaced out eyes and a crazy look  I've drawn a friend with leafy hair and a dog across her head. When I have my machine back I'll sew it.

Twiglet, the 'drum-head' portrait was for my step-daughter who is a musician and artist herself. She loved it! The funny thing is that there is a certain likeness to her in it that I did not do intentionally. I thought that I had these two on my profile as well but I didn't so here they are. The first one is of me and the second one is my DH:

Thanks, Rita! I was going to watch it last night but was overcome by other events (nice ones!), but I have it on my schedule to take a break and watch it today. I could tell by how special your faces were that your creativity burst out from the seams, so to speak, because they are lively, colorful and just delightful. I really want to try and make one.

Hi Rita - I love your faces! These are one more thing on my to-do list, but they will probably keep sliding down since unleashing my creativity is VERY uncomfortable for me! It'd be a good thing for me to do, but very difficult to make myself do it!

Thanks Nancy. I just used left-over pieces of fabric that had steam-a-seam on them that I just couldn't bring myself to throw out. It is very liberating to not worry about shape or colour, and just have fun. I know you would enjoy it once you got going Nancy, give it a try, go on, go on, go on!

Nancy, I think you would be surprized if you just start fusing fabric to fabric and just snip and sewing and not think about it--it could be really fun for you.
