Poor video quality of Feb. 1 show

Did anyone else have poor video quality of this show.

    #2
No, but I guess it depends on what you mean by poor.

Mine's always grainy and nowhere near the DVD quality but then it is just an up load.

The quality is fine. I'm in the UK, using a broadband connection and a very average PC.

I do treat myself to all the DVDs because I can watch the programmes again on a much larger screen.

I purchased a large 23 inch monitor, so maybe that is why the video did not look as good as on my 19 inch monitor. I have been trying different resolutions, but that does not help. The video just seems grainy and a little fuzzy. Not sure this larger monitor was a good idea.

          Thank You

might be a good idea to contact tech support give them details including monitor, internet connection type etc and let them give you some suggestions.

I watched the current show under the old format and it was fine. Now that TQS has switched to the new format, the picture is very fuzzy and the video stops/skips every few seconds. I have already sent a note to technical support, but just wanted LeeAnder to know that it's not just her that is experiencing problems with this new format.

This can also be our individual internet connection that can vary in speed from time to time. I've found a few of the last videos jumpy, but the same thing happens on other videos on other sites. I haven't gone back to check older shows, that would be a good comparison. This is a good reason to buy those DVD's!

I have just watched the last show with the new bigger video player that they have let us use although they have not finished adding all the features AND it works wonderfully for me. I really like it. The picture is clear (not fuzzy or blurry). There was just a little hicup now and then.
This is going to make watching the shows so much fun.

Mine's clear as always. My screen is 21 inch I think.

I've noticed on all streaming even on network sites and HULU that with DSL (all I have available) it's never as smooth as when I had cable.

Just my impression as this time.

I have a 24 inch high def monitor and I find that if I don't zoom it to make the pic bigger then the pic is pretty clear but when I enlarge it does get a bit grainy. When I watch it on the laptop (also hi def )and zoom it you can't see the graininess. If you have a large screen and its seems grainy it helps to sit a bit further away.

It is most likely because of the file size, they would need to keep it down to a reasonable size. The smaller the file, the lower the quality, same as with your digital pics. I know I don't want to be downloading 4.5 gig every time I watch any episode and thats about what a DVD is.

I just checked out the new player and it seems better for the grain, properly because its meant to stretch to full screen mode

For those reading this thread - the new player is significantly larger than the previous player. The old video is 563 pixels wide and the new one is 853 wide. The new player is able to detect your internet speed - which changes depending on usage in your area. The detection is constant so if you are getting a slower speed - it is supposed to bump the quality down so the video will play. If your speed is smokin', then you'll get a better quality image - much better quality than we provided previously. I find that my player starts out slower (fuzzy) and gets better in the first two or three minutes as it figures out I have decent speed (in La Veta, whoo hoo). However, on the upper right, there is a Slower Internet Speed option, which has been set up to play the video just as it did in the old player - smaller video size. If you are not enjoying the larger size for whatever reason - use the older format to get the experience you were used to.

On computers, an image size is based on pixels or points per inch. If image (photo or video) is created at a certain size, it should look perfect in that size - however when you force it to be larger - (i.e., full screen) it must pixelate or distort a bit. For most of us, being able to watch on the full screen is still a good experience and if you are not sitting right on top of your screen, viewing from a distance - it's not so bad. Having said that, I rarely watch any internet video full screen - I just prefer the smaller cleaner version. Your comments are valuable. With any change there will be growing pains.

If I've said anything incorrectly, Capt'n John will chime in and set the record straight.

                        Thanks,
                        Ricky

Thanks so much Ricky. I knew there had to be an explanation to accompany the NEW player.......a reason for your investment in it.

My DH is in the business but I don't understand 90% of what he is talking about......and would rather invest my 'time' in quilting than in understanding it.

All I really am confident of is that TQS will always do THEIR best to make sure OUR experience is the BEST!
