Loved Road Trip Part One
Just finshed watching Road Trip Part One and it made me homesick.
I lived in Newark as a child and Pleasanton when first married. I now live in Irving Tx.
My husband and I fell in love with Columbia and went there quite often and camped at Marble Quary camp ground. Loved all the history. We built a home in Copperopolis just so we could live in the historic gold country.
The show brought back lots of good memories.

Hi Everyone! I'm obviously WAY behind in watching. Loved the road trip.
Can anyone think of a reason that making those flip and sew quilts with a group of teenagers wouldn't work? I've been asked to hold a class for up to 20 girls to make charity quilts. I think with 1 1/2 yd. for the backing, a crib sized batting, about 7 different fabrics cut in strips, they could easily make a nice quilt! It eliminates the quilting step and would just need binding. We'd have several adults to supervise the rotary cutting of strips and could spray baste like the ladies did. It seems to be the easiest plan for so many kids. I'd probably have to split the group in half.
Appreciate your comments! Nancy in NY

I think this quilt would be wonderful for teenagers and younger to get a quilt done quickly and easily. I plan to let our park (where we make over 100 charity quilts each year( about this technique because I think it is simpler and easier than the method we are using. Its hard to change old habits but we will see. Hugs, Ann

I agree and think it would be great for teens! Plus, (it's been a while since I saw the show, so maybe this was included, if so, oops!) before binding, it's easy to do a row or rows, straight or not, from side to side (across the strips) of any kind of stitching, straight, zig-zag, fancy (watch the backs tho') which adds "extra quilting" and would add excitement! (did that make sense? )
Good luck!
