Dee Christophers Color Theory Class
Dee Christopher's Saturday Color Theory class: I am picking my fabrics out and my theme fabric has very little background showing but what is showing, is black. Can I still use a white background for the blocks or should I now use a black background. I DO intend to use this theme fabric as a border and/or backing. Thank you. MillieTags: None

Here are my photos for warms/cools and then for the 4 seasons. I have a couple fabrics that could go either way and various seasons. Also I posted an alternate focus fabric that I just found. So I'm not sure what I'll use yet. I'll wait to see as we continue with the classes. I'm enjoying this exercise!

You think more like what I like to do. After seeing the block, select fabric colors that would look good together for that specific piece. You can also look at the big picture. Pull the fabrics that you would
like to use overall, but save the individual selection of block fabrics until you see what blocks you are
going to be making. I like to have a picture of the quilt before pulling fabrics. HelenW

There appear to be two significantly different methods for Half Square Triangles (HSTs). The first is place two fabrics right sides together, draw a diagonal line, sew 1/4" from the diagonal line and cut on the diagonal line. Et voila two HSTs. (This method can be used to create 4, 8 or more HSTs)
The other is the one in our book: cut fabric diagonally and sew the two fabrics right sides together.
What are the pros and cons of each method?

This 51”x 51” grayscale quilt was “commissioned” by the love of my life. I used Kona Gray fat quarters with cream sashing and the Crazy Eight ruler. For some reason I just get a "?" even though I resized picture. . . Oh well try this
