I am a happy Janome 6600 owner, so I can't answer your question directly. There is, however, a Yahoo Group called "Janome 6500/ 6600/7700 Quilting Machines" and there has been quite a lot of banter about the 8900 (seems all good to me). This group (and several others depending on your interests) has an incredible amount of information - both in their messaging and in the Files area. Good luck!

My response won't be whole lot of help, I love my Janome 6600, but if I could buy a new machine right now, I'd buy the 8200. I tried it out at my local dealer and the combo of price and features was just what I was looking for. If the 8200 had been available when I got the 6600, that's what I would have gotten instead. I'm toying with selling my 6600 to get the 8200.
I didn't look at the 8900 as I knew it was out of my price range (really, so is the 8200, or I would have brought it home!) and I knew the 8200 had all the features I needed.

I had a wonderful. Janome 9000 which I literally wore out. When the larger head machine came out, I wanted one since I am a quilter and a seamstress and do home dec.I had a Janome 6600 which sewed wonderfully. I traded up to the Horizon 8700 and had tension issues. So when the 8900 came out, I traded up again. (Hoping the tension issues were corrected). I had awful tension issues and had to get my money back. Some friends with Horizons have some tension issues as well, so be careful that your machine will stitch like you wish. In fact my husband told me he would not fund another Janome machine. I sew all the time so a machine needs to be dependable and the 8900 stayed at the shop more than in my sewing room. Be sure to test drive the machine using different stitches to insure you are pleased with your purchase. More important than anything else, buy from a reputable dealer who services the machine and offers user classes.

I bought an 8900 about 6 months ago, love it so far. I've done quilt piecing, ditch quilting, some FMQ, and some garment sewing. I love the larger harp space. I also have a Janome 6600 which is a great machine. I would not have considered getting another machine, but the Pfaff my mom sewed on died and we got a new machine. She wanted the harp space of the 6600 so i just let her use the 6600 and got the 8900. I can't remember what the difference is from the 8200 to the 8900. I would still be sewing happily on the 6600 if the Pfaff hadn't stopped working (unfixable because it's old and there aren't any more replacement parts). They are both sturdy and take anything I throw at them.

Couldn't find a recent topic about other Janome's(
I'm just a beginner, so I couldn't afford an expensive model. Yet still I need to choose something that wouldn't break after one use or two. Just wanted to ask, would it be enough to start my training on something not so... complex? Like this https://wisepick.org/janome-sewing-machine-reviews/ (second one) or should I wait and save money for a better option?

Hi Regina,
I would admit that Janome is one of the top brands of sewing machines on today’s market. I am sure, you can find the suitable one since this brand offers a number of styles and features that every level of sewer can develop their skills. I know some people who feel that Janome machines are great because they are highly affordable, made with a good quality, as well as can withstand the test of time. Since I was overwhelmed with my choice as you are, I have done some research. I found the website http://bestsewingmachineguide.com/ that helped me to find the desired sewing machine. Hope, the information will be helpful to you.

The well-known brand Janome is one of the most popular compared to others and quite deservedly popular with everyone who is engaged in sewing professionally or for themselves. I didn't try both... However, I would better choose Janome 8900. This multifunctional sewing machine presents the joy of creativity to both amateurs and professionals. This machine – with the highest speed of all computer household sewing machines and with the highest working surface. The other Janome models that I like most of all are here: Best Janome Sewing Machine
