Message - "Presser Foot Position Lost Steps"

My Bernina 820 is talking back today. I've had this message - Presser Foot Position Lost Steps - several times. It asks me to restart and instructs me to call the dealer if the message recurs. (It did and I did. Another trip for service is set for tomorrow!)
Has anyone had this message before? Frankly- I hope to keep sewing but I'm worried I may do some damage!

Hi Wendy. My wife Annette just received the same message on her Bernina 880 machine tonight. It had never happened before. She restarted the machine and it seems to be working fine for now. Did you end up taking your 820 machine to the Bernina dealer? If so, what was the cause of the problem?

Hi. There was a broken part in the bobbin area of the machine. I don't recall what the part was but it was not expensive. The repair shop had to order the part though. It's apparently not a common problem!

For me - the machine worked after a restart and I sewed happily for a while. The message popped up again later and then became more frequent.
