Episode 1011
In Episode 1011 Carol Ann uses a 440 by Bernina. I have a 630 which has a 5.5 mm stitch width. Does anyone there know, does Carol's have the 9mm width? It would make a big difference in the look of the stitches...thanks, Joesgal

I played yesterday with the process that Carol taught. What fun. Doing the cording first is a great idea. The presser foot then rides along the side of the cord to make the line of stitches on each side line up soooooo nice. I think next time before I cut my piece apart, I will run two lines of straight stitching across where the cut will be and then cut between them. Some of my fancy stitches came loose at the ends. The cord binding was easy and fast. I can see this type of binding would work well on irregular shaped quilts as well. I still have the hand work and beading to do. As always the shows on TQS got my creative juices going. I am off to check out my beads and flosses. Betty Ann

Those little accessories she showed were so neat. Made me want to try ...however I am backed up with sewing projects right now. Eyeglass cases..always need new ones. Thanks for your input bettyann. Then I was concerned with how small my decorative stitches are; I had tossed around getting the 640 when I bought the 630 but it was an extra thousand to get the thread cutter and 9mm and I was leaning more towards piecing than decorative. I guess all is possible even with the 5.5mm. Hope you can show a finished piece somehow here.

The Bernina 440 is 5.5 mm wide. It works really well. Before cutting Carol mounts Wonder Under. I don't remember if it's in the show but I attended a Craftsy Class and just checked my material list. I have finished my stitch bible for the 440 and am working on bibles for my other two machines. They have seams that are 7 and 9 mm so it will be interesting to see the differences.

You bet I am! It's good that one of them is an embroidery machine, so it can sew by its own   :lol:Originally posted by JoesgalWow, wow, wow, three machines Zarah! You must be a BUSY lady!

Right you are. I will probably do another in the future. Summer's sure are hectic! I like the freedom of expression that the method gives you. One thing I need for that would be an easel or something to prop up the piece on as it's a killer to be bent over the ironing board like I did and glue on pieces.
