    Needle threader on the 440

It's hard to explain what I did to my needle threader. I've had my 440 for 2 years. I just found out that there was an update for the BSR here on the Forum. Fortunately, I'm taking my machine in for its annual cleaning this week so I'll talk to the lady about it. I'm having to take my machine to a place that I don't know well so I thought I'd ask here. I can't explain exactly the freak accident but .suffice it to say, I was using my hands-free like a pedal (harking back to childhood days) and it popped the needle threader off. I was able to get it back on, but since then it hasn't worked. At my age I need it repaired so I can use it. My question is: Is the needle threader a part you can order and put it on yourself or does it have to be fixed by a professional or is it, maybe, off kilter and hubby might possibly be able to adjust? Any advice?

You would have to order the part through your Bernina dealer anyway, so just have them replace it when it goes in for service. Mine got out of whack and I never could get it to work right. If I remember correctly, a new one wasn't as pricey as some of the other Bernina parts.

I have found that some threads definately don't like the needle threader. It is Ok on my 430 as I can thread it manually, but on my 830 this becomes a problem. The Titanium needles seem to work best for me on the 830 with any threads so I have switched to them. Do you have any tips on the 830 & threading the thicker threads?
          :?:

Sorry, Bunny....I'm driving a smaller 630 and the (replaced) needle threader is working just fine.

Anyone else have some advice on the 830 mega machine???
