The 730 is abosolutely great for embroidery and regular sewing.
The bells and whistles are easy to learn. There is even a ? (help) icon to select if you are wondering what all the icons mean on the screen. The ? icon will tell you about the individual stitches as well.
Embroidery is also easy to do. Lots of editing can be done within the machine itself, even arched lettering.
Have fun~

Well, I went into a dealer to see about updating my V5 Editor Plus to version 6. Instead, I upgraded to V6 Designer Plus! Not only that, but I asked whether she had used 730's for sale. Nope, but she had a brand new one with free gifts that had been on special at Christmas time that I could still have for the special price. Guess what I walked out with?
I need to seriously stay away from stores for a long time!

I LOVE my 730! The stitches are perfect every time. I'm not so crazy about the BSR, but every other feature is terrific. (I turned off all the audio features. The cow and the cricket were too much for me!) I free motion even large quilts on it. The embroidery is a breeze. She's such a great friend I call her Roxy!

I'm so glad there are still a few of us left!
I have the Artista 200 upgraded to the 730 and I love sewing with it.
There are so many features and stitches to use, I don't know if I'll ever KNOW everything it's capable of doing.
I am content and always learning while creating and sewing with it.
I think I may need to get another machine for just quilting and utilize the Artista embroidery capabilities to the fullest extent.

congratulations on your new addition! I have a 200 upgraded to 730. It's been a great machine and I love it. I am thinking of getting the 830 for my retirement primarily because of the space and the dual feed, but the 730 is a wonderful machine. I look forward to seeing what you and your new baby create!

I have the the 200 which is the same as the 730 - the bsr. I use it for all by sewing and quilting needs. I love the 9 mm decorative stiching when I 'm crazy quilting or using them as a decorative touch on a christening gown. And the quality of the embroidery is outstanding. I am using it to embroidery my Twin grand-daughters christening gowns.
Enjoin your machine as much as I enjoy mine. Paul
