Extended sewing table for Bernina 445Q

I bought the Bernina 440Q earlier this year. I have just the equipment that comes with the original purchase. I can not afford any of the tables / cabinets until I have finished paying off the machine.

Is there an extended sewing plastic table top I can order for the Bernina? Is if from Bernina or another manufacture? How well does it work. Any idea of the cost?

I had a plastic table top made for my old NEW HOME 6000 and I love it. It made my machine quilting easier. I am hoping that I can find a table topper for the Bernina to use til I can afford a sewing cabinet.

    Thanks for your input.

The plastic tables are not cheap either. Since I am outside the USA, I ordered my plastic table from my Bernina dealer. It has the Bernina logo on it but I believe it is the same one that is sold by Dream World INC. for $114. Though I have a cabinet for sewing that gives me a level surface, I find that the plastic table helps to stabilize my projects when using the embroidery module. If you feel DIYish or have someone who is, it is possible to modify a inexpensive cabinet or table to a sewing table with a drop-down shelf for the machine. I just can't remember where I saw the instructions

I saw instructions for converting a kitchen table to a sewing table on Eleanor Burns website. Hope this helps.

I sew at the dining room table which was handed down by my DH's grandmother... there is NO WAY he would let me modify it. I thought of changing a small table I have out in the garage from my mother's home but then I an not sure where I could set it up. Since my DD and grandson moved home... space is tight.

I think right now the table topper extension is the way to go... I just have to find a manufacture and contact them .... the one that came with the machine is waaaaaayyyy too small for machine quilting. $125 is expensive but better than $1000 they want for the simplest table/ cabinet.

I got an extension custom made for my mom's 30 old machine but I could never find the adjustable legs for it and end up cutting matching wood block for the legs... not adjustable.

If the dining table is an extension table, you could get someone to make a false leaf that could hold your machine.
Hard to explain with words but you make a kinda shelf that is held by the extension bars and a filler to "bridge" the space between the halves of the table.
I actually thought about doing this myself, but went with a double shelf arrangement on the back of my vintage office desk.
