    Aurora 440QEE & Vista

    Hi Everyone!

I have a question for all you Bernina & Vista users......Do you have problems with the download speed of the embroidery design from EC on PC to the 440?

After 2+ hours of trying to get the software to work and finally getting it to work it took another 20 minutes or so to download a very simple NAME to the sewing machine to embroider. Is this a common problem with the 440 & the Vista OS?

My laptop is only 4 months old and it came with Vista, I emailed Gateway tonight to see if I could get downgraded to XP and the tech told me no it would void all my warranties and the laptop wouldn't work, so now I am unsure what to do next?

    Your thoughts/experiences would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have not been embroidering for about a year or so, but have a new computer (8-9 mos old) with Vista on it. Finally wanted to embroider something and tried to download the software. It REFUSES to download on the computer. Says activesync won't work with it.

How did you get yours to download? Called my LQS where I purchased my aurora 440 and they said i had to upgrade to Editor Plus. Not an upgrade though cause they decided not to furnish an upgrade to v4 editor lite. So guess all us who spent $$$ on our machines are SOL if we don't spend over $1000 on new software. Sorry just venting I guess. DH is not at all happy with Bernina at this point!!

    Anyone else struggling?

OH, YEAH! Several years ago I purchased a 180E. Worked fine on the laptop I used at the time. Computer died. New computer is "incompatable" with Bernina software.
So now I have a great sewing machine with a pricey embroidery module that is useless except for the stuff that is built into it.
DH is NOT pleased, and neither am I. Expensive lesson learned. Beware of computerized stuff....it gets obsolete quickly!
Did that turn me off Bernina? No...I recently purchased a new 630 so I could have the BSR, which could not be added to the 180.
(Did NOT get the embroidery module!)
Gotta say that I LOVE this new machine, and the BSR is not dependent on an outside computer. Hope it lasts forever!

I can only imagine how frustrating software issues are but try to remember it is not Bernina it is Microsoft. We have several computers in our house with a new one having vista for the opperating system it refuses to run many programs and won't even allow us to open certain file folders created with the XP machines.

Good point, Peter! Technology is wonderful and frustrating at the same time! I'm just glad that the powers-that-be have figured out how to give us TQS!!!

Good points everyone, but my frustration will take a little longer than my common sense. Unfortunately the older I get, the wiser I get to the 'games' that are played int he technological fields! Fortunately for me (not for Microsoft) I know how to play the game with back doors and covered that base in times past. I have an old computer that can be adapted and used, just is a pain in the keester. Still will have the expense of buying another computer monitor though. Guess it beats the price of new software!!!!! Thanks for listening.

Remember, keep those old computers when you upgrade. Just like all that 'stuff' we stash away cause we might need someday.....we just might need it.....

LadyMyste - What version of Editor Lite do you have? Have you ever been successful?

Whenever someone has problems with their software (Bernina or OESD) I head to the website and search until I find the answer. Sometimes the answer is not found or I have to enter the right values for the answer. I did help someone out with the same problem but I am away from home right now. Here's a link to the Bernina Software Support on one of the help screens for Editor Lite/Vista:

I have an older 165E and a new 730E. Both operate fine with VISTA. But, my DH did have to spend quite a bit of time with the Bernina tech support team. Between the info on the web site and the help he got from support, he was able to get everything working fine. I have Designer 5 so I don't know if you may have different results if you are using Editor Lite. I would try the tech support through the web site as they were helpful to DH.

I have EditorLite v4.0. I did find the software support you listed and it does in fact say that vers 4.0 & older is not supported on Vista and that tech support will not support it either. So, after trying a KVM 2port switch which failed (probably due to operator error, lol) I am going to look for another monitor and use that. Just so much hardware that I was hoping to avoid.
