It's wonderful. Seems that some of us have found a theme to work in.
I am very busy doing other things in life at the moment but will soon come back to mug rugging again.

I agree, Jane, pictures NeveR do quilts justice.

I just had an interesting experience at my local post office. Two workers, neither knew the requirements and could not agree on what was necessary to send a packet out of the country. Because the bubble-pack I chose was small, one said it didn't need a customs sticker, the other said it did. I went with the one that said it did, hopefully saving trouble on the receiving end.

I'd like to know others' experiences about sending mug rugs out of the country.

I just have to add, that as thrilled as I am to receive mug rugs, making them has been a joy.

When I send packages overseas they always want a custom form on it. You have to put your address, the receivers address, what is in the package(fabric scraps is good) and the value. I believe if you keep the value under $14.00--the one receiving it does not have to pay big bucks to receive it. Anyone else have different experiences?

Beautiful muggies folks! Is this a great exchange or what!!!

                              A note on shipping overseas:
I've received so many different instructions, some times even at the same post office. The main things to remember:
Fabric doesn't break! Fabric can be washed! So don't pack them in all these protective packages... Makes the envelopes fat and bulky which in turn makes them expensive!
                              Think quilted postcards!
Place in regular envelope, if needed fold once.
Declare as 'present' or 'gift (never as merchandise!)
Declare a value of $10 or less - hey they're just fabric scraps sewn together - you're absolutely not lying!
                              Declare item as: 'fabric postcard'
I wouldn't mention the word quilt, those who know quilts will think valuable, and those who don't know quilts, will be confused and might find it inspection worthy.
Postcards are well known, 'cheap' and certainly just a greeting card, a postcard made of fabric isn't so much different.
If you can mange to get it sent as a 'letter', you'll pay only a few dollars, as soon as it's being turned into a parcel, even if small packet, it becomes more expensive, easily four to ten times the cost of a letter - and we all would much rather spend that on fabric or thread or embellishments (or even chocolate)

Thanks for the hints, Lotti. I'll be embarrassed if someone gets charged for mine. If so, just leave them, tell me, and I'll do replacements.
