Another quick note, we've been having all kinds of problems with the Internet explorer at the office lately. To the point where my colleague (vp of R&D, so totally computer savvy), couldn't check in his flight the other day.... Lufthansa flight booked on the Swiss website. so when the invitation for online checkin came via email, the link was to the lufthansa website, but from there it was transferred to Swiss, by the time the IE connected there, it had lost all the details and the ticket. Ticket and passengers could not be found. When we tried on my PC, using google chrome it worked perfectly well...
Microsoft is probably working overtime on trying to get windows 9 in order, as win 8 is clearly useless, so I guess they don't have time for proper updates and bug fixes on the IE.Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

Originally posted by ritzyNorma--your tutorial is wonderful. I had no problem getting to it or reading it. I was not able to go to the link for where you get your thread. Maureen, are you using Google Chrome? I am finding that I am having lots of problems with Internet Explorer(of course it could just be Window 8) . If you are not--that could be why you are getting gobblygook.
I'm so sorry, somehow a k has disappeared in the link. I have no idea how that happened  .
The correct link is here:

It is corrected in the document, so please download it again.

Thanks everyone for suggestion what to do about technical things. At the moment I use Firefox but I have chrome as well. Trouble is I have an old computer and it has XP. I am getting ready to throw it out the window at the moment, as it is soooo slow. I will get one when I come back from holiday but there have been so many complaints about Win 8!!!
I usually have no problem opening PDF files as I use them a lot so I don’t know what happened this time. Norma kindly sent me the file without going through the link, thank you Norma, and Lois said she saved it to her computer so I saved it to my documents and it worked that time, strange.
Margo, I went back in before I read all the posts and sure enough the icon was there. Thank you all for your help.
Lorchen I love the photos of you and baby Faye. My youngest grandson has just turned 24 but I can still remember the happiness and love I felt when I held my grandchildren in my arms for the first time. A wondrous feeling.

I use Firefox on Windows XP, too, but didn't have any problem downloading Norma's PDF file. I, too, need a new computer but really, really, really don't want to use Windows 8. For now, I'm putting off the upgrade hoping that things will change (but knowing they won't and I'll have to bite the bullet at some point).
This doesn't help you figure out why yours didn't work, but at least lets you know that it can work without an upgrade.

I am using Windows 8 and don't have any problems with it. I did have to ask how to maneuver as it doesn't load up exactly like XP or any other of the Windows start pages. Once you get used to it, it's just fine. If you have a smart phone and use apps at all, then you will probably not have any issues as it was designed to be used in the same manner.
