If we all waited until we'd made a "perfect" mug rug, no one would have received any, so please, don't stress as we all just love to send and receive them. Besides, if we use them as first intended, they would all end up stained with tea/coffee/juice and greasy stains from the brownies/cookies/cupcakes/scones. I just want to enjoy them.

Originally posted by ritzyHey Rita, I have that you have sent 14 mug rugs that have been posted.
As for the standard of mug rugs, I have found every one that has been sent to me or that I have seen others receive charming. I have learned so much from making these little gems and in fact I feel addicted to making small quilts now. Each quilt that I have received has been a special and unique combination of fabrics and stitching made especially for me. What a privilege. I look at each one (okay and sometimes I stroke them too) and think about the fact that a quilter I don't really know personally but whom I have formed a friendship with through TQS has cared enough to not only make this especially for me but to take the time and money to send it to me too. It has been great fun doing this exchange and I really hope that some others join in.

I agree with you Rita--to know someone else made it just for me is a great feeling. I have been having a great time with these too. I like being able to stop what I am working on(you know--the tedious stuff like stitch in the ditch) and just be creative. Of course, it looks like I can't stick with one type--I just keep switching--guess that is part of the fun. Oh, and who hasn't had fun taunting the others with "yours is on the way"; and checking the mail everyday to see if any came for you? Yes, it has been fun and if we don't get some others involved--I think I am two shy of doing one for everyone. If I have missed you and you know you are not on my list--let me know.
Debbie--I am sorry to hear your back is hurt. Don't worry about the mug rug until you are better. I sent three out today: Cathy, Vicki and yours Debbie. Be on the look out.

I so agree with what you all said. This has to be fun or we should quit it immediately. I find it touching to know that you sit out there thinking of me while you make my rug as well as I think of the receiver a lot, when I make mine. They are all very personal and I don't judge what is coming.
Sometimes I have friends coming here to sew and they used to say: I can't do the things you do. My answer has always been and will always be: I have been sewing for most of my life. The things I did 30 years ago were not like the things I do now. The current project leads to the next and you incorporate your knowledge in the next.
So the current project is always the best you can do at the moment. My friends have accepted it now and I'm so proud of them because they say yes to be challenged and they learn a lot from it.
So come on everyone to play. It's so much fun and these small projects allow you to experiment with whatever you want.
Lorchen, I can hardly wait
Rita, looking forward to your current masterpiece
