    Late & Unfinished SoTTT/Stripper Compilation

    Dear SoTTTs & Strippers

it has been suggested that we make a compilation of the SoTTT & Stripper Quilts that do/did not make it into the official book.

i've decided to volunteer for making this compilation - at the moment we're kicking ideas back and forth...
below copies of the entries that started it.

please DO NOT YET send orders

    - when and how to send entries
    - how to order
    - how the compilation will be provided
will be posted RIGHT HERE once we know more about how the Compilation will actually be be done.

to keep this thread from clogging up the Order SoTTT & Stripper Book thread - i've already started this thread here now ....
    very very very important:
NOTHING WILL BE PUBLISHED BEFORE THE ACTUAL & PROPER - SoTTT & Stripper Book IS AVAILABLE !

yes - i will contact carol and ask for her input - however - at the moment she has a lot to do with the actual book - and this is after all - an afterthought - so will have to take second place

thank you all for your input, for your patience and for being YOU and a great part of US! :P  :P

Personally I think if we could get together all the ones that missed the deadline and put them into something like a pdf that everyone who wants a copy could then download & print out for themselves to put into the back of the book.

Postage from Switzerland is insanely expensive so that I'm not a good person to organize an exchange, but as this would mainly be distributed by e-mail or online transfer server, I herewith volunteer...
Figure it's best to do the final layout once we know what the book looks like / have the book, so that the add-on would have a similar feel, unless I'm stepping on toes and copyrights here....
What kind of timing are we looking at folks?
Obviously we want to give as many persons as possible a chance to add theirs, but also don't really want to make everyone wait five years or whatnot...
    Any Input?
I'm off to vacation (yessssssss to Ireland, and later the intl quilt festival in galway) on Saturday, so don't know what kind of Internet connections we'll have on the road, so if you don't hear from me in the next couple of weeks, I havn't disappeared, or lost interest, or whatever...
    I shall return...
Hopefully with pictures and stories and many happy memories...

Just think out aloud here, but since these are add-ons what about the idea of bi-monthly editions (or whatever frequency you think fit) up to whatever date you decide (6 months-1 year after the publishing of the official book?). This would have the advantage of being smaller files generally, and hopefully we might 'sweep up' more members with the multiple deadlines. Just be sure to decide on when you want the final deadline to be!

My personal favourite is http://www.blurb.com it looked more idiot proof than Lulu, when I was checking them out a couple of years ago. But that doesn't take into account a) latest updates & b) the idiot

It all depends on what Lotti feels she wants to commit to, and how many there are, but I would be happy with a collection of pdf files to print and add to the original book.

By the way I am looking at them for the Reels & Recipes book with Romira.

I am also fine with a pdf file that we could just print on our own. I am working on my pinwheel quilt which is made from my left-over HSTs .

Just had a play on the blurb site, very interesting option
I especially like that I can prepare everything on adobe indesign and then upload the finished PDF files...
What I don't like is that the ebooks are for iPad, iPhone and iPod only.
Well, it'll be a little while till we get to the 'publishing' stage, so that I'll have some time to play with various options and decide what to do to suit most of us

So, bank on making up the pdf, we are looking at at least 6 months before the original book is launched, who knows what changes they will have wrought on that website in the meantime.

                    PS have a great holiday

ebook is not only for the i series, it is for 'normal' computer as well, i buy regularly from inklingo e books and never had a problem with those.

I think what Lotti is refering to is that the blurb.com website is saying that their e-books are only for the i series. Needs double checking.

Yup, so far only looked into the blurb version...
But, as we said, still have time to try out various things.
I would like to one where I can work in indesign and then have the possibility to convert into .pdf printing files, PDF booklets, and ebooks...
Obviously we want ALL the options, and I look forward to finding out what we can end up with

                            hi everyone, espicially lotti,
see the answer of linda franz from inklingo, i have asked her what kind of software she use for her e books:

                            Hi Becky,

Thank you very much for telling quilters at The Quilt Show about Inklingo! That is wonderful.

I use InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to create the book layout and Adobe Acrobat to turn it into a PDF. There are package deals from Adobe for these programs. I then add copy protection to the PDF (complicated, working with a small Canadian company) and host everything on my own website. Unfortunately, the copy protection method is a significant expense, but it is good and it has proven to be user friendly.

Is that what you wanted to know? If I have misunderstood your question, please write back and I will try again.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend with time to sew.

                            Hugs,
                            Linda & Monkey

Lotti, thank you for volunteering to put this "supplement" together. I'm good with whatever works easiest for you. I'd be happy with just simple pages in a pdf file. I know it will be a while before anything gets going, but if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. I'm pretty good at fiddling with layouts and stuff, if it's not too complicated :!: I'm self-taught, mostly by using EQ and doing up written patterns and illustrations for patterns for a quilt shop I worked at.
