    beaded applique on bridal wear

Does anyone have any experience in attaching a purchased beaded applique to the sash of a bride's maid dress? The applique has a clear plastic backing. I'm thinking that I have to have a strong needle and use white thread with small running stitches to attach it firmly. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Since the backing is clear I would match the thread colour to the fabric colour - you don't say what colour the sash is but since you mention white thread I am assuming the sash is white. However it might be worth just checking whether an off white thread would be better - there are so many different whites out there, and just laying the 2 strands of thread over the combination won't take long to see which is best. As for needle I would go with your favourite hand sewing one and see how it goes.

Of course Rosemary would match the thread! She's meticulous like that!

Personally, I would be looking for a flexible adhesive to glue that sucker down! Something that would work for fabric/plastic.

Belts and braces for me. Glue it down and then use monopoly thread making sure to tie off the ends well leave a good inch tail and bury it in the lining.

Not keen on monopoly for clothing - used it once because of trouble trying to match colours and not being able to get to the shop in the time. I was dis-satisfied with the end result because it doesn't flex like cotton/polyester thread, but the customer didn't notice

Of course you could always wait until they are dressed and then use drawing pins (thumb tacks?) to make sure that it doesn't move

Or staples! A friend of mine used to do that when her skirt hem came undone.
