    An ant in the Iron

Help! A huge black ant crawled into the water reservoir of my Rowenta iron and I can't get it out!!!!
    Any suggestions?

That's a new one on me!

I don't know that it would really cause a problem, but it would be a real topic of conversation in a quilting class!!

I would think it would boil or drown if you pour water into the reservoir. Then you could just pour it out.

            Yep, I'd try Eileen's suggestion.

I tried filling it with water and pouring it out - did not work. I also propped it upside down so it might crawl out - no luck.
I suppose it won't hurt anything but - yuck!

                Does it float?
If so could you (carefully) overfill the tank so that it floats up the filling hole and can then be fished out.

Or--fill it up and then when you turn it upside down to empty it; swirl the iron so the water make a vortex and comes out quickly.

I'm going to try that next - just might work. The amazing thing is that after 4 days and multiple filling and emptying - the ant is still alive!

Tried that today - with sugar..no luck - but this is a big ant so it has to get hungry at some point...
I cannot belive I am spending so much time and effort on an ant! But I won't be able to use the iron until its gone - to sckeechy for me.
Good thing I have two irons! And the little door over the fill hole is now closed on the second one.

I'm happy to report the ant is free! Alive and well and back outside.
My friends' husband - who does all the sewing machine repairs for the shop - took the iron apart, the ant crawled out, and the iron is back together - and watertight!
                            Thanks for all your suggestions!
