'Mad Hatter' or 'Royal Wedding Hangover'
A friend asked me last Thursday if I would have been able to pop on a posh hat and go to that wedding on Friday.... Well, I don't do hats, but I am the proud owner of a really traditional wedding hat. I bought it in a charity shop when I needed a hat for a charity dressing-up day at work. I didn't have time to change my clothes, but managed to get my son to snap a quick picture (you are all permitted to fall off your chairs laughing), hence the bright-red cardigan. I saw Alex wearing a very snazzy number on Facebook. Are other members willing to share hat pictures?

Any pictures of me in hats are pre digital and will take some hunting. But when I was living in London, I got into the habit of always wearing a hat - reason I am only 5' tall and it ensured that on the tube I didn't get anyone who was holding onto the overhead rail resting their elbow on the top of my head! (this actually happened one time  ) also during winter it was/is a much easier way of keeping the rain off my glasses than using an umbrella, which would have been eyewatering for everyone else
The problem with most people wearing hats these days is that they don't take their hairstyle into consideration to make sure that the two work together, rather than fighting for attention. Also I saw a lot of hats/fasinators that were being worn centrally, when they would have worked much better being worn over one eye.
By the way Lorchan that hat does suit you 8)

Sue, that's a great hat, and you look great wearing it! I guess we are just no longer used to wearing hats and so feel somewhat silly when we do. My maternal grandmother (born in 1880) never left the house without a hat on, and I have a friend (28 years old) who always has a hat with her. Like Rosemary, she dislikes umbrellas and puts a hat on when it starts raining. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood
