What are you cooking for THANKSGIVING ????

    http://nonniequiltingdreams.wordpress.com/

SEEMS LIKE I go through this every year....I am looking for healthy / but delicious recipes for the holidays. I usually make the vegtable courses for our POTLUCK style dinner. I am also suppose to bring a surprise dish ... of something new...

ANYONE HAVE ANY GOOD IDEAS/ LINKS ???

Luckily I'm going to my son's for Thanksgiving and don't have to take anything. When I do, I usually make a squash casserole that uses stuffing mix, onions, squash, sour cream, a can of chicken soup, and sharp cheddar cheese. Even the people who don't particularly like squash usually like this. I'm sure there are recipes for this on the internet.

Try MidwestLiving.com. I pulled some new sweet potato recipes from there the other day, plus a recipe for Apple-Cranberry-Walnut pie that I'm planning to try. You might also try Better Homes & Gardens: bhg.com. Let us know what you come up with!

I've got lots of great delicious recipes that I'll be using for Thanksgiving, but unfortunately not one of them could be described as healthy.

My philosophy for life is: everything in moderation, so at the major holidays involving big meals (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter), I go for the traditional, comfort foods, and focus on being "healthy" the other 362 days of the year! Nancy

I'm cooking the whole meal but this year I'm doing something new. I am making a rum pumpkin pie. I saw Paula Deen do it and it looked heavenly! You might be able to find the recipe on http://www.foodtv.com

I'm so lucky...my sons are doing the cooking this year. My oldest brines and cooks the juiciest turkeys and my youngest makes the most wonderful (non-healthy) desserts. The only thing I'm making is the cranberry sauce. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

My problem is my DH and his side of the family are brittle diabetics and I want to keep hubby's cholesterol in control. Everyone thinks they can indulge one day without harm but with a diabetic... YOU CAN NOT GET AWAY WITH IT. One day of indulgence results in a week of TRYING to get back into control. NOT WORTH IT.

So far I am cooking Mixed green salad, ITALIAN GREEN BEANS, a ZUCCHINI CASSEROLE, and Asparagus spears. I am trying to find a great tasting but healthy casserole side dish. GREAT IN TASTE and flavor but lower in fat. I might be able to modify the squash casserole recipe.. it sounds good. I also have a hazy remembrance of a squash casserole with orange sauce that was out of this world... I am off the find that recipe.

Hoping everyone has HAPPY THANKSGIVING WITH FAMILY , FRIENDS AND LOVE.

Last year I was ill so my husband had a hungry man turkey dinner! I hope to do better this year although because we live in Canada we already celebrated Thanksgiving in October and I have to work on Thursday so it is hard to prepare a turkey dinner.

A bit late for this but will post anyway..... I use Libbys Pumpkin pie mix. You only need to add eggs and I use egg beaters. Measure exactly so the filling isn't too runny. The filling is a lighter texture. We are so use to it this way, we can't stand the thicker, heavier version! My husband is type 2 diabetic so we only cheat a little. I buy the smallest Turkey breast I can find. I make only enough dressing to fit underneath it. No cranberries. :-( Romaine and baby spinach for salad with avacado and tomato.
