    Introductions

I’m going to jump off the cliff and test the “Blog” feature of the Forum. I have been a member of The Quilt Show from the beginning and one of the features I enjoyed most was getting to know other quilters through the Member’s Blog on the original site. I’m not a member of a local guild and The Quilt Show became my quild.

I remember the excitement surrounding the first Block-of-the-Month; “Bouquets for a New Day” by Sue Garman. We blogged about renting a bus and attending a Quilt Show taping to show our completed quilt tops. It didn’t happen but we had fun talking about it. I completed all 12 blocks at the time, but life got in the way and I am just now hand quilting this quilt.

So much has happened since 2007 but I’m still quilting and have lots of projects to complete.

Hi Carole! Welcome to TQS!!! I am not making this year’s BOM because I already had Wendy’s Round the Garden pattern but I am following what everyone is doing. I have especially been interested in the wool applique quilts and I have seen your quilt. I can’t believe this is your first quilt and what a project to start with. I love your quilt. I have never worked with wool but I prefer hand work and I think I will like it. I don’t have any wool so will have to start from scratch and do my research.

I like to go big also. My first quilt was a large sampler that I started in 1985 when I was out of work. I started quilting it in 2009 and got it out again in 2019 and I still haven’t finished it but I’m going to one of these days. But I have made lots of quilts in between.

Still feeling my way around how to use the blog.

      Sandy

Hi Sandy F, Hard to believe you been a member since the beginning and have not been active on the forum. Welcome and so glad you are here. There are still bugs in the forum part of the website and I have had a lot of problems with posting pictures. They are looking into it so maybe soon I will be able to do it again. And Carole B I would love to know what kind of quilts you maybe be considering for your first bed quilt. I have been hitting the summer projects list,
like sanding, staining etc lately and get very few minutes of sewing. HelenW

Hi Helen W, I have posted a little on the Forum. I used patriotic fabric for the Alex's Spinning Spool pattern and have since downsized it to a table runner. I used an insulation batting so I could set hot dishes on the table and I just need to get it quilted in time for July 4th.

I'm not making this year's BOM but I do keep up with what everyone is doing. The forums are great for BOM and Dee and Alex's classrooms but not so much if you are working on other things. I'm trying to focus on completing what I have started. But I do love Mendy's My Flower Garden Quilt. I have 20+ Red and White Ohio Star blocks that I made over 10 years ago that I am thinking about using instead of pieced blocks in Pattern. I purchased the pattern for the applique patterns. New project but I am using orphan blocks and stash fabric.

I think I mentioned I have Wendy's Round the Garden pattern and I need advise about purchasing wool fabric. I have never worked with wool.
