Leaves at top of right hand border
Has anyone else noticed that the number of leaves on the pattern and the number on the picture of the finished border don't match up for that top section of the current month's border? I'm getting 7 leaves using the pattern but six in the picture. using the 7 seems to make that top flower come out too close to the border edge. Am I missing something?

I noticed that too, while squinting at the border picture on page 2. I've reached the "what the heck" stage for the appliqué on this quilt, so I decided to cut a few extra leaves and just place however many the spirit moves me when fusing time comes. It's art, right?

Thanks for the tips. What I did was make sure my top flower would be even with the left border top flower. That meant moving it down not quite an inch, leaving out one leaf and adjusting the placement of the last two light green leaves. All done now. Ready for that last border!

I took a class from Sue Nickels in May, and I asked her about trimming from behind layered applique. In general, she doesn't trim, amd specifically for this quilt she would not trim the under layers of the flowers, etc. The blanket stitch flattens everything out pretty well, and she has no trouble machine quilting thru the layers.Originally posted by ssgirlHas anyone cut away some of the layers prior to fusing the unit down in the 3 layered flowers in month 6? Just not sure if this many layers of fabric will make it difficult to quilt. I haven't noticed any info in the instructions regarding this.
