Racheljp, I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking what size to cut your fabric before you stitch it to the printed paper foundations?Originally posted by racheljpI would like to paper piece Month two sashing strips. I am not sure what size to make them on the foundation. 1 inch by ??? Thanks
If that's what you need to know, you will make your own templates for cutting out the fabric by adding 3/8" to each side of the triangles.
Have you watched the videos about paper piecing the month 1 units? Especially the one about using the Add A Quarter Ruler.

We need to do the same thing for month 2.
The month 3 video also shows how to create templates to use for cutting triangles of fabric to be paper pieced.

Margo, I did watch your video for month one and it was great! I finished it by paper piecing and they turned out nice. I cut triangle templates for month two, but want to paper piece the rectangles. I thought I had read that you did that. What size should the rectangles be? You are so helpful!

OH! The other sashing strips! Yes....some of us paper pieced those using graph paper for the foundations.

This is for Lenore's question about leftover strips.
Yes, I had strips left over and posted about it maybe a month or so ago. I seem to recall someone else did also. I chalked it up to being more efficient with template layout.
Be sure to keep all leftovers - we may need them for applique, etc.

Earlier we figured out that the folks who ended up with strips left over at the end had cut their strips selvage to selvage, instead of cutting 18 inch strips parallel to the selvage. See earlier posts in month 2. Hope this helps!Originally posted by gynconnieWhen I cut my strips, I cut all 24 (12 of each color) parallel to the selvage. That used up about 18 inches or so of the width of the fabric, but left a big chunk of each color intact. If you cut your strips from selvage to selvage I imagine there could be a lot of leftover fabric in strips.
