Well I made a decision at last, it was between Two in the end Teal and Magenta or Sky and freshly turned soil as Romemary put it , I had to do Hip dip my blue ship on it in the end
and Sky and Soil won, so off I went to my Local quilt shop and could not beleive that I actualy managed to get the two colours I wanted for the Sashing
I am doing this on
a wing and a prayer hoping that it will turn out right in the end, I am not very good with things like value and making decisions over colour so I will no doubt be asking
for help and advice from you more experienced quilters along the way . Due to the cost of Fabric in UK I will have to purchase the fabric as I go along so fingers crossed for that one.
Going to watch Margos videos now, a least I have extra time to catch up a bit as I am not doing month 2 .Yn Harddwch Gogledd Cymru

Sue, get yourself a box of Quality Street, start with the chocolates in the the red wrappers, then smooth it out and view your fabrics through it, that will convert the colours to values. A less tasty way would be if your camera does black & white or sepia and use that, or a scanner working in b/w.Yn Harddwch Gogledd Cymru

Personally I prefer the toffees, but I kept hold of a couple of red wrappers from a few years ago. Actually I am avoiding all sweets (with the exception of very dark chocolate (70% or higher) for my current way of eating/diet and it is working very well, I am finally about the same size I was about 11 years ago BC (before child) :wink:Yn Harddwch Gogledd Cymru

Congratulations, Rosemary. Sounds like the trick here is to save the old wrappers so that you don't have to eat the candies over and over again each time you need a value tool.Originally posted by PosyPPersonally I prefer the toffees, but I kept hold of a couple of red wrappers from a few years ago. I'm curious to know how you all are getting all these different colorways. I finally figured out one way with Corel Photo-Paint. Are some of you actually choosing different colors for each piece? If so, how? I need a vector file to do that. This is for future reference. I need to get back to piecing. I'm halfway done month one.

Sue, if you are on a PC you can just open the JPEG file in MS PAINT and color each element!
Lots of more sophisticated options are available where you can work in layers and change several elements at a time!
(Sorry I can't help with a MAC.)

Sue if you have Paint.net or similar( I think this was a free download) its easy peasy Just take the JPEG image (coloured) and play with the Adjustments which are on the top line
if you alter The Hue and saturation and the Brightness and contrast by adjusting the sliders you get allsorts of colourways ,you can also invert the colours to get a whole new look.
Hope this makes sense . Have fun .Yn Harddwch Gogledd Cymru

After playing with all the different colourways and being unable to decide which one you like best, you could always print them all up as 8" squares onto fabric and then piece them together for a colour wash quilt :wink:Originally posted by suehenyonOriginally posted by Suewarbyif you alter The Hue and saturation and the Brightness and contrast by adjusting the sliders you get allsorts of colourways ,you can also invert the colours to get a whole new look.
This gets way too addicting!
