I have been frantically working on getting caught up for this day! I am up to August - well just starting August this morning but I'm doing good, I just started May on Saturday so I'm moving along. 16 blocks done! I hope to have October done by the time I go to Houston but we'll see.

Ahhhhhhhh it feels good to be back. Birthday quilts, baby quilts all kept me busy this summer.

          Margo,

On picture 4, I'm not understanding your post to:

"When trimming the ends, be sure that the short end is trimmed PARALLEL to the center of the star block! (The arrows indicate what I lined up before I trimmed down to the 1/4" sea allowance.) After these are done we will figure the size of our floater strips for a perfect fit!"

What do you mean by short end?

The assembled rows of star blocks are about 9" wide. I'm talking about the 9" (or your particular measurement) end of the assembled border strip.

            Sorry for the confusion!! ops:

I put the blocks/borders on my top. Love the way it looks. Sue your instructions are right on and I love the way the corners line up so perfectly. Having the inner setting triangles different that the outer makes them really show of the perfect piecing.

I have not added my two final floaters because when I do I don't think it will fit on my design wall so pic now - floaters tonight.

Whoo Hoo, almost done and I leave for Houston in a week.

Mmmmmmmm, wonder if TQS will unveil another BOM for NEXT year...

Yahoo, I just finished the October star border and posted it in Show & Tell. It took me most of the day, but I am pleased with the results. My colors are bright and kind of busy!

Thanks Cheryl! Lots of inspiration there for long-arm quilters!

I have been on vacation this week and fully intended to get those stars into their setting triangles. I have cleaned house, sorted and weeded out my magazines, filed my latest patterns. I can't seem to get moving on this and I think today I figured out why. I have worked so hard getting to this point and I'm afraid of messing it up now. All of a sudden I'm not sure of my fabric choices, my capabilities, etc. Isn't that stupid? Tomorrow for sure ops:

Gloria, that definitely is not stupid! It's HUMAN!! We all worked really hard to get to this point and its looking great so far. If you aren't sure of you fabric choices, maybe you could lay out your blocks on several background choices and take a digital photo of each one, then go through the photos and see which one looks the best. Maybe even try a set with two colors like Sue's. It will give you the perspective of distance, and that often helps. That being said, I like the background fabric you show on your profile!

Gosh, I'm in the same position of wondering about the fabrics I chose for the setting triangles. I auditioned them before sewing the border, but now that the blocks are sewn together, it doesn't look like I wanted it to. Since the rest of the quilt is so heavily patterned with all those little blocks, the borders seem to want to have some patterning in them too. Arggh! I'm going to look at the Show and Tell to see what others have done with their borders. Kathy :?
