    Paper Piecing video on quilterstv

Check out this video on quilters TV

    http://www.quilterstv.com/?bcpid=131...ieced_projects

It's called triangles made easy, and it's about paper pieced 1/2 square triangles.

Now I haven't tried this yet - but I will. Maybe the extra tips in this video will also help. Every little hint and tip adds up.

Karen...Thanks so much for posting the site on paper piecing. I have done some before, but the tip on finger pressing before removing the paper and how to remove the paper really came in handy. I had taken the paper off of about 32 of the QST's for March when I went to the site. It was so much easier using Brendas method and things moved along much faster. What a great site this is with all the help provided by everyone. Thanks again.

I tried the method in the video, but modified it slightly by using an iron instead of finger pressing. There are just WAY too many little squares to be pressed to do the finger pressing thing first!
The paper removal afterward was easy-peasy and I will be doing it this way from now on.

        Thank you!

Just be careful if using an iron that you don't transfer any of the ink to your fabric. If you don't want to use your finger to press your seams, get some sort of tool that is used for finger pressing. I had done some paper piecing and didn't think my ink would transfer, but when I ironed it, it not only transferred to my fabric, but to my ironing board cover as well. I wasn't too upset about the ironing board cover, but it ruined my fabric, as I couldn't get it out after that.

I have just finished making all the 1/2 square triangles for this months blocks, mostly following the method on the video.

The main tips I got from the video was to put the light fabric on top, when putting together the fabric paper sandwiches, don't remove the paper until after you have opened the squares, and how to hold the triangles when you do pull the paper off.

I also tried the finger pressing, but didn't keep that up for all of them. I did open the triangles - and gave them a little pull at the seams to open them up properly. They nearly laid flat and I gave them a light press with a dry iron. I had no problems with ink transfer - but it is something to be aware of.

I'll be able to tell after I have stitched the block together, if this method has increased my accuracy - but so far I think it has.
