I think the fabric we select says alot about us and our interests. I love Autumn and that's what I chose for my feathered star. I also love history and collect Civil War and 1930's fabrics. I also LOVE blue and white quilts--I find them very calming. I finished my feathered star yesterday and hope to post it tomorrow. Wish me luck--I'm not a computer whiz like the rest of you!!!

Judy, I had to smile when I read what you said about the fabric we chose says a lot about us. I chose a wild & crazy fabric - hmmm, is there something about myself that I've been hiding LOL I just wanted something different than usual with lots of color. Hopefully I'll like the end result.

Sherry, you're not wild & crazy, you are FUN-LOVING!!! Once I stepped out of my comfort zone and made a couple of things from Amy Butler fabric--I love some of the quilts made with Kaffe Fassett's fabric, too. Judy

Oh - I like that better - fun loving It is good to step out of our comfort zones once in a while. I feel like when this quilt is done, it will be a masterpiece for each one of us - so it is fun seeing what everyone is doing.

I am a month behind already because I have been fretting over ALL of those fabrics! Finally found my focus fabric and just tried to get color/values (not necessarily like those listed) but that I liked and worked with my focus fabric. I decided that because the quilt is so different, it is really not going to matter what patterns the fabrics have! And I didn't want to get further behind. HOPE like crazy this theory works, or I'll have the ugliest quilt in the west.

As you can see in the Show and Tell section, there are all sorts of combinations of colors, prints. It has to be pleasing to you, 'cause you are going to be looking at it a lot for this year! And if it really does come out ugly (which I doubt it will) you can always enter it in Ami Simm's ugliest quilt contest! LOL!

Sheila, if you are having trouble with color selection, go back and look at the December '08 show with Jinny Beyer. She showed how to choose colors. I picked an autum theme for my quilt, so I knew I would go with orange, green, gold, red, brown, and I'm going through my stash and using different shades of these colors. You can also pick a focus fabric and pick colors out of that fabric and various shades of those colors. Your quilt will be beautiful. Remember, every quilt is a learning experience and your time will never be wasted. Judy in Torrance
