Hi all -- I also finished and posted my BOM -- every day I check to see the new stars. I just counted how many have been posted, almost 100. Pretty cool.

One nice thing about waiting awhile until working on the BOM is that you can see the beautiful work everyone else has done and get some wonderful ideas - combination's you might not have thought of.
I might just do another block! Jan

I am so enjoying seeing everyone's feathered star! Each one is unique and beautiful - if I had to, I don't think I could pick a favorite - I like them all. And it is going to be so fun to see all these quilts come together!

Exactly, we are a diverse group here and while some may not be doing the BOM, having all the pictures there will help us in other projects. A MMMMMMMMMMMM moment when we see colors, style and layout that inspires us in our own projects.

A big pat on the back for all of us and hopefully, some will post pictures. I know a fellow quilter working on hers and she has no idea on how to post pictures, if I can, I’ll have her email me a picture of her finished feathered star and I’ll post for her.

OMG, Trust me, I tried, you should have seen her response. It was a hoot!

I may have to have her over to teach her how, she did want to get together to work on the quilt and brainstorm.

Funny thing is she's my long arm quilter! She won the Quilt Show subscription from a raffle prize that I donated to our quilt guild show - it was included in a basket of goodies last April. She just redeemed the coupon in Oct/Nov!

                Baby steps!

I posted my finished block last night- I had so much fun making it. I did a design on EQ6 first to see how colors from my stash would work for my 2 paisley prints I purchased over the weekend. (It took me awhile since I am not very good at EQ6 yet) I am also making the background in various creams and whites. In case I run out, I can buy more of any fabric in those shades.

Thank you Margo for the weblink to the pictures for paper piecing. I have completed a Judy Neimeyer quilt several years ago, but couldn't remember how to start. They helped a lot!

I have a question about the pressing the final seams. They are pretty bulky - are people pressing some open?

Looking forward to February's next step,
                      Cathy

I did press some seams open, but not all of them. I pressed open eight seams from the very outside eight points to where that seam meets the second feather. Is anyone thinking already of how they are going to quilt this?
                        thanks.

Yes I am   ...next step is to sew on the 4 triangles so the feathered star will be on point...and I feel those triangles cries out for some free motion feathers  So, for my red&White BOM the triangles will be in solid red...and my Batik BOM I will choose a subtle fabric, may be not subtle in color but in pattern so my free motion are allowed to shine in at least this area of the quilt. I have even ordered several different spols of quiltingthread so I can check out what will work in a way I like.

Thanks so much for this Margo! I'd love to put feathers on mine. Guess I better be practicing them before it's ready!

Your block is beautiful Denise...I just finished mine using the fabric from the show...can't wait for block Two. I've only been sewing for 4 years now.. and I must say..it was a challenge..sew 2 rows, pick out 1.. and that how it went..

I'm sure when the block was posted, that there wasn't a video..I just went back to see..after seeing Sue's video clip...and there it was..this is my first paper piece, so you can understand why I had to take it out so much...patience and perservance LOL! but it's done and I'm so happy with it. By all means it's not perfect, but it's perfect for me..
