Well, I've uploaded my March BOM to my profile. As I said there, I wish I had used a darker green for the light stems...I don't think they show up well, :x and too much contrast with the two dark stems. But it's done, and now I can concentrate on some other things until April 1.

I love the contrast of the star on the basket, Nancy! When I needed to increase the contrast of the background star on the January and February blocks, I outlined them with a simple stem stitch. Maybe you could try that on one of your stems and see if that gives you the contrast you want?

Thanks Margo. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I'll give it a try. Or maybe I could just stitch close to the edge on all those light stems and leaves with a green. Good idea! What would we do without each other??? :P :P :P If it changes it a lot for the better, I'll re-post it.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm going to try stem stitch with floss to make veins in dark green in the light stems and light green in the dark stems. I will only give it a very short try to see how I like it. I am using Ricky's stable stuff in each appliqued piece and that might be difficult to embroider on. We'll see.
Thanks so much to everyone who has responded and cheered me on.

Charlotte, yes I do know that song! And I almost didn't do the yellow roses because I felt they wouldn't show up well against the background. But instead of invisible monofilament, I used a bright yellow (Alex's Masterpiece thread) and did a blanket stitch around the blossoms, and I felt that little bit of texture made the roses stand out.

Nancy, I love your blocks!!! For your light green stems and leaves you might try a medium green outline embroidery--a color a few shades between the dark stems and the light ones. It's also good to put the block up where you can see it for a week or two. That always helps me make decisions as to how to proceed when I'm stumped. Judy in Torrance
