Hi Norma and Lisa,
There is a document in the download called "Sedona Star MOnthy 6.pdf" - it's a pic of the front and back "cover" for the embroidered applique. The back shows the size of each design. There are way too many different hoops on the market for me to specify which hoop each brand of machine should use, but as long as you know how big your hoops are, you should be able to decide which is the best hoop to use based on what you have. Everyone with a 5" x 7" hoop or larger can stitch out the designs.
Kind regards,
Sarah :-)

I do see that the full embroidery will fit in the Pfaff Grand Dream Hoop. That is a split design hoop which I haven't used yet. Can a Bernina person tell me if their Jumbo Hoop is also a split design hoop? I know that the Jumbo is a bit bigger; just wondering how the process of using the two hoops compare. I think I'll need to do a practice run before trying to stitch out the design. Lots of prep, but worth it in the end.

Hi Sarah! I bought the designs from your site and love the design. However, mine is not cutting any of the jump stitches. I checked and my feature is turned on. It's kind of a pain to cut all those jump stitches! My machine uses PES and I have to use the 5 x 7 hoop, my largest is just a wee bit small to stitch out the center design  . It cuts when the color stitching out is completed but none of the jump stitches. Is it supposed to be like that? Can you insert some trim codes so I don't have to cut all those stitches???

Hi Norma,
The Bernina 830 hoop is not a split hoop - it stitches the entire hoop in one go.
SNelson61 - I'm not sure why your machine wouldn't be cutting the jump stitches. I have not heard of that before. To the best of my knowledge, there is no setting I can change in the software to force a cut - but I'm very happy to have someone tell me otherwise. I think it's a property of the machine. I only have experience with Bernina embroidery machines - some of these cut the jump stitches and some don't.

You cannot cut jump stitches in the software, but my understanding is that you can eliminate them in the software. To eliminate the jump stitches in a digitized design, while still in the V6 software, you select the Blackwork tool and proceed as follows (from the Mastering your V6 Embroidery Software manual):Originally posted by SarahVedelerSNelson61 - I'm not sure why your machine wouldn't be cutting the jump stitches. Select Edit > Select All
Select Blackwork Run tool; follow the prompts in the Status line to
Enter Entry point; the software automatically re-sequences the
stitching to eliminate jump stitches.
Select View > Slow Redraw and notice the changes
If there is anyone out there who has the experience, please jump in! I did use it successfully on an embroidery I recently digitized but don't have oodles of experience, like some of you out there!

Hi Renata,
Yes - you can do a blackwork run - but it is only for objects that are connected to each other and can be set to stitch out in one long line. I think the jump stitches being referred to are those from jumping from one object to another in the same thread color. There are some machines that will cut the thread for you. However - thanks for the reminder about the blackwork run as it is something that I tend to forget about!

FYI, I just ran upstairs to check mine. The Grand Dream hoop is 360mm H x 350mm W, and as Norma said, it's a "split hoop".Originally posted by Norma64Sarah,
Do you think if I lined up my Grand Dream Hoop on the split where your middle red line is, I could stitch out half the design, then turn the hoop and stitch out the other half?
Norma
My belief is, that if you have 4D or 5D Embroidery Suite, there is a program that will split a large design for you, into two VP3 files. You specify it's for the Grand Dream hoop too, I think.

Lisa,
It's good to meet another Pfaffie!
I just came back from an embroidery class and posed the question about using the Grand Dream Hoop to the "people in the know". They said to bring the design in through 5D, choose the Grand Dream Hoop, and see if it will go in without a split. It would be great to not have to split it, if possible. But, if necessary, one split, then turning the hoop is better than hooping four times! Also, do you subscribe to SOS? If what I described above doesn't work, I'll call them for help.

Hi Norma,
I'm sorry - I think I missed your question there about splitting the design. There is no need to split any of the designs. If the biggest "unsplit" design that I provide won't fit into your hoop, then combine what will fit from the splits that I provide. You can't split an applique shape!
Kind regards,
Sarah :-)
