    Fabric Quantities for Sedona Star

Hi - could you tell me if the fabric quantities in kit for the Sedona Star quilt are generous ie I have already made a mistake and need to cut more fabric for the centre of the quilt (not much - but I dont want to run out!) ops:

Hi there. I can't accurately tell you about the amount of spare fabric available in the kits, but I found a whole range of the Rooster fabrics for sale on eBay. - from a UK seller .- mostly just FQs but enough to get me out of my predicament of making a cutting error. There certainly wasn't enough left in the kit fabric to accommodate my mistake. Good luck with yours. I am loving the way this quilt is progressing.

Thank you very much for that - I will check and see. I live in the Middle East and I have to ship everything in and I am worried about the fabric not being available anymore!

You are welcome. I am interested that you live in the Middle East. My son is in Qatar.

Your husband wouldn't be an engineer working there would he? My son has a friend there called Bill!

My husband is called Bill and is an engineer. There are lots of engineers here but it is a small world so who is your son?

Hi there - no I dont know your son and have asked my husband and he doesnt recognise the name either. Its a small world and stranger things have happened! I met someone here in the supermarket, and as I talked to her I was sure I had met her before - but after about half an hour of suggesting names and places, still no remembering where I had met her. And then as I was leaving and saying goodbye, I suddenly remembered who she reminded me of, and when I told her, she said that it was her sister! I hadnt seen this old friend of mine for 30 years, so recognizing the family resemblance was strange enough!

So now we go back to the Sedona Star - which so far hasnt gone together terribly well. But after dreaming about it for the last couple of nights I now know where I have gone wrong. Instead of fitting the pages together for the star outer border, using the grid lines, I cut the template out and then stuck it. Thats why it is slightly small for the star circle, and why it looks like a funny sunhat! So I will unpick it again and redo the outer border. Hope your Sedona Star is going well.

Hello Pixi . Is it just the narrow rim round the centre star you have to redo or is it the Paper pieced star? I found it was very important to join the pages checking the squares to see that the joins were creating the correct size squares. Month 1 I found a lot of hard work and a bit of a worry, but since then it has been great. It was into February before I started at all and I felt the pressure but it is a great relief to only have the 3 blocks to do this month. I love the fabrics and I think it will make quite an elegant quilt. Good luck with yours.
