Month1 Applique Question Instructions P16
I'm confused about what I should do at this step.
Page 16 of the instructions where you join the border with the circles to the centre star.
The instructions tell us to align the centre of each section of the border, and then to stitch in place using our favorite applique method.
The align bit makes sense - but I'm a newbie to applique. I don't have a favorite method...... And I don't understand applique enough to weigh up the different types and choose the best most appropriate method.
I was planning to machine applique the centre circle. But is this what I do with this part - or do I hand sew the sections together, folding the seam allowance under like needle turn?
Should they really be sewn together like a seam? It doesn't say to do this - so there must be a reason for this - is it too difficult or inaccurate?
A lot of you have got past this step and will have tried out different methods - do you have any feedback that can help me?
Thanks

Here is what Sarah said in another string
"There isn't really a "best" applique method to use - it can be done in many ways. I do everything by machine, so that is how I did mine. Hand applique is a good option if you enjoy doing that. There is a really fine line when writing instructions to being way too specific (people then start to ask questions like "couldn't I do it another way") and not being specific enough. Finding the balance can be challenging to meet everyone's needs.
The ring and the paper pieced star should be pieced, although appliqueing it could work. I have just re-read the instructions on page 17 - I'm sorry if this wasn't clear. It didn't actually occur to me that applique was a possibility when I wrote the instructions! "
Kind regards,
Sarah
