background fabric requirements
I bought all my fabric and found the perfect background. It's a blue/black batik, but I could only find 6 yards. When I added up the three blues in Fizz, the background plus other placement of those blues came to 8 1/4 yards. Does anyone know if my 6 yards would be enough to cover the background areas in Mo.1, Mo.3, 4, 5 (where TT is placed in Fizz), Mo.9, Mo.10&11? I will be placing blues in the other areas, just like Fizz.

I'm sorry I must've misunderstood your question! I thought you were wanting to make your quilt just like the Fizz version, is this correct? If so, you will use a different shade of blue in months 10 and 11. The settings in month 9 will also be a different blue, however the triangles in the circular border will be made from the blue that you're asking about, and you'll still have enough fabric. You would probably even have enough to use it for month 10-11 if you choose to. But the Fizz quilt is made with different blues in those outside corners.http://thatcrazyquiltygirl.blogspot.com

Hi Lisa,
I guess I didn't explain it well (It's hard to explain without the picture). I'll try better. I want almost all my background areas to be my blue/black batik, not 3 different shades. If you picture Fizz, my blue/black background areas would be in Month 1 around the star and the outer circle, (in Fizz it's F), in Months 3,4,5, the square (in Fizz it's TT), in Month 9 (in Fizz it's LT), and in Months 10&11 (in Fizz it's T). Everything else that's blue in Fizz I would also have in the different shades of blue. Does that help? Do you think my 6 yards of blue/black will cover what I described? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the clarification. And GOOD NEWS! I calculated the total number of inches you'll need as far as yardage for the areas of the quilt you stated. You will need 213" of fabric, which is just *barely* under 6 yards! Cutting it close, so pray for no mistakes, but your fabric that you bought will work! Happy dance! :mrgreen:http://thatcrazyquiltygirl.blogspot.com

No problem! And actually, there is a little room for error. Because you will need to cut a 17.5' square, and you'll have the rest of the WOF left from that so if you needed to make some re-cuts, there's a little bit leftover. I'm happy dancing with you!http://thatcrazyquiltygirl.blogspot.com
