Who is doing the 2012 BOM?
I have never started a topic, but I have happily followed the 2012 BOM info lately, and I am SO excited! I would love to know the folks that are "planning" to participate (I understand it does not always work out entirely...) My name is Leslie. I am a happy TQS member, who participated in the SOTTT exchange, as well as Sensational Strippers. I still have to finish those projects, and I am working on the 2010 BOM (only started last year), but I am super ready for this beautiful BOM. My color palette is sort of an aqua green and red/orange with some golden yellow. Although I have been playing with the design in PAINT, I think it will have to evolve as we go along. This is my project for the New Year, and I am so looking forward! I'm using some stash, and some purchased fabrics :PTags: None

Hi Lesley and All
I am doing this year's BOM. Although I have been a member of TQS off and on since the beginning, I have never done one. This year I felt inspired! My colours are similar to the original but are my own choice of fabrics. I completed the inner circle yesterday. Once I got into a rhythm it went well with little unpicking. My quilt will be from the UK.

Hi Leslie -
I'm planning on doing this BOM. I've been collecting fabrics and have most of my colors figured out but, like you, my fabrics will evolve as I go along. I have some other projects with time constraints that I have to concentrate on now, so I might get behind. But I'll try to catch up! I plan to use purple, green and yellow batiks.

Hello Leslie!
This is my first BOM. My fabrics include a red background and cream and grey scrappy details. What I look forward to most is learning a lot about quilting and seeing everyone else's creations in progress. Your color palette sounds beautiful. I have collected a small stash in those colors because they always seem to "talk to me" when I see them.
Welcome aboard the BOM train!
Renata

I will definitely be doing this BOM. The question is when! I have played with it in Paint too, and have my print out handy. I plan to do something similar to a color wheel; Jacqueline de Jonge style, with a black background. So, I will just be collecting all of my fabrics for a while, and when I have what I need, I will jump in! Have fun!

Thanks for starting this topic! I am so excited to be doing this block of the month! It is making my heart sing! I am already done with month 1 and have posted in show and tell. Yes, I am a nose to the grindstone kinda person! I am a charter member of TQS, and LOVE this site! I live in E. Central Illinois (Urbana, home of the University of Illinois). I work part-time as a nurse practitioner in our local clinic convenient care.

Maggie, as soon as you mentioned what you would be doing, I knew I wanted to do the same! So, I went to Paint and just played. But, it is still different from yours. (I LOVE your month one!) Mine will have a little bit of black in the log unites, and each log unit will be a different color. Can't wait to get started, just don't know when.Originally posted by maggieszafranskiDawn, sounds like we are going to have similar pallettes (sp)!Originally posted by ScoopieI will definitely be doing this BOM. Hi Sedona Stars:
I am also going to attempt to make this one. I have ordered the paper piecing fabric from Ricky Tims and will leave it in the quilt. I printed out the Month 1 paper piecing and will try it out this weekend (I hope!) I am from Homewood, Illinois, a southern suburb of Chicago. I have saved all of the BOM's and have them saved. I even did 1 block from the 2009 block....and hope to one day go back.
I also did the SOTTT exchange and did manage to piece a top from Edyta's book. Now to quilt it! Hopefully this weekend since it is a wall hanging.....I work full-time and longarm quilt part-time. I have a great husband that helps out so it gives me the time I need to fit in piecing as well. I plan on using my stash for this quilt; well maybe I will buy one or two fabrics....looking forward to keeping up.

I am Judy Austin. I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia. I am going to try to do this BOM. My taste in colors run somewhere in between the bright multi-colored sample and the beige sample, so I am selecting fabrics on my own - which I find VERY challenging! I am leaning toward an analagous color scheme of blues, teal and lavender. I went through my stash this week and pulled out everything I thought might work. I ordered more batiks. I think I will hand-dye the background fabric.

I plan to enjoy making this quilt as well. I want to complete my SOTT's quilt so I'm sure I make the deadline. My top is finished, so I don't have far to go. I have a Bernina 730 and Designer Plus 6, so I'm really looking forward to increasing my skills with the embroidery. I retired last February, but would you believe I still would like to have more time! I think it has to do with all my projects that I had on my to-do list for "when I retire". I certainly won't get bored in my lifetime!! I love this website - I think it's a treat to pull it up each day and see what's happening next!

Hi, I'm Judy Daw from Idaho Falls, ID. I am going to do this block of the month, it will be my 1st TQS project. I love the bright colors in the sample but always feel unsure picking fabrics for brights so I am going to order the kit (if it ever becomes available). Can anyone give me advice on picking colors? HELP!
Hooray! Kits are starting to become available. I have ordered my Stable Stuff and then fabric, I am getting so excited. This should be learning experience and be able to utilize my Bernina 830 all at the same time!

Hi all,
I am doing the BOM 2012. In fact I am off today to check out fabric. My current thought is Moda marbles, and there is a store in Williams, AZ that carries all of them .. the colors are so wonderful and you can get a nice range of the same color. My plan at the moment is to feature aquas, terra cottas and purples with possible touches of buttery yellow and light yellowy green. BTW my first printing of the templates was at Adobe's setting and Sarah is right!!!!! They don't fit! I have corrected that. I am using a stablizer that I purchase at a shop that caters to embroidery it came in a package of large sheets and I do have to cut them, but not a problem with a large square and a rotary.
Happy Quilting

Hi! I am Michelle Wyman from Acworth, GA. I will also be doing this BOM and I am very excited about it! I was inspired by the pic of the bright one with black that was posted, and have pulled almost all my fabrics (batiks!) from my stash. I still need to buy the black and perhaps a few others to fill in. And I need to prewash everything too!
I ordered my 6 packs of Stable Stuff a few days ago, so hopefully I will be able to get Month 1 done before Month 2 is ready! LOL
I am still working on my SOTT quilt - it's all quilted now, I just have to bury my thread ends and do the binding and label! And I am still piecing my Start Crazy TQS BOM but that's almost done - just have to put all those borders on the center!
And, add into the mix, that I do longarm quilting as a business, and am in the middle of quite a few other quilts and UFO's that my guild has sponsored. To say there are not enough hours in a day is obvious!!

I am doing the BOM too! It will be my first BOM of any kind. Although I have been quilting in a haphazard way for 30 years (I was a wee sprout then, lol), I have only been getting serious about it for a year. Even though my stash is huge, I will be using all new fabrics. I am hoping to keep my plan as a mystery until the end, but my photo will give you a clue!
I have been so impressed with the various quilts produced by the previous years' BOMs, and I am pretty sure we cannot go wrong!
