Here is how I did the applique circles. I took my drafting compass and made the appropriate size circles on Stable Stuff, then cut them out. I then rough cut out my fabric circles so that about 1/4" was showing past my stable stuff circle. I put glue stick glue on the edges of the stable stuff, then turned the fabric to cover the stable stuff circle. You have to be careful to get nice rounded edges and no points. When I like the look, I press it with the iron. Glue stuck it in place, then machine appliqued it down, using monofilament in the top (I have MonoPoly, but used Jenny Haskins monofilament, I think it has a tad less sheen) and Bottom Line in the bobbin. I set my zigzag to 1.0 length, and 1.0 width.Originally posted by winkydink13Maggie I think your star looks wonderful, what method did you use for the applique circles did you turn them under and stitch them down?

Hi Liz -Originally posted by LizrennerQuestion? If we are using Stable Stuff stabilizer and leave it in the quilt (don't tear it away in the end), will the ink need to be set so it doesn't come off when the quilt is washed? If so, is iron heat enough? Any help will be appreciated.
I don't know the answer to your question, but was wondering the same thing myself. A couple of years ago I had used the EQ foundation stabilizer for some paper piecing and left the stabilizer in the project, which used a lot of light-colored fabric. After the project was finished, it got a little wet and immediately the black ink spread through the fabric. Good lesson!!
I'm planning on testing the Stable Stuff this weekend by taping 2 scraps to paper and sending them through the printer. One scrap I'll immediately get wet to see how that does. The other scrap I'll heat set with the iron and then test it with water. I'll let you know what happens, but it might be different with different inks and printers so you should probably test your own if you are concerned.

I would also recommend that you leave the second piece to dry 24 hrs too.Originally posted by rehakHi Liz -Originally posted by LizrennerQuestion? Thanks Maggie, I purchased some Jenny Haskin's monofilament and yes the sheen is low on it I put it in the machine and did a rough round circle just to try it, I didn't turn it, and you couldn't see the thread at all, the machine didn't object at all either which is a real bonusOriginally posted by maggieszafranskiBarbara, let me know if you need any help. It is always hard to describe in words what we are doing with our hands!Originally posted by winkydink13Thanks Maggie for all that information I'll give it a try that way and see how I go, should be fun.
