Thanks so much! I took this photo several years ago and have been wanting to use this color scheme in a quilt ever since. I think I will try some other colorways for your design before I settle in on the one I like best.

I don't have EQ, nor Photoshop, so I had to figure out a way to color the template mechanically using the tools available to me. Hopefully, my post will help others.

Nancy, I love your color choices and where your inspiration came from! And thank you not just for sharing your design, but also the process by which you "painted" your conception of Sedona Star. Renata

Thanks! I noticed that some people were having difficulty with the coloring template, so I just wanted to offer my solution. Please post a copy of your colored template, if you make one. I'd like to see what others are planning.

I will not be doing the Sedona Star quilt, but I follow the forum with great interest. Nancy, your colorway is beautiful and you have interpreted the photo just perfect. I admire all the suggestions people already have for this quilt. Looking forward to see all those ideas come to life.

Nancy your colourway is wonderful and the dark green would certainly be perfect.

Lilo should be posting it very soon - she is back in town having been gone for a week. Check out the 2012 BOM page later in the week.

Thank you, Sarah for the info on the corel draw file availability. I'm looking forward to it too. Just out of curiosity, will I be able to add fabrics to the design in V6 quilter program or somewhere else in V6 or will I only be able to color the design in the corel draw portion of V6? I've created quilts in the Bernina Quilter program but this will be the first time I try to bring in someone else's design and I'm a little unsure how to do it (but will figure it out). But I am really curious about ability to bring fabrics in as well as color... Renata

Renata - you can use the Pattern Fill option in CorelDraw to bring in fabrics to color with. It will make your file size quite large, which might slow things down a bit. I've never really used the Bernina Quilter portion of the v6 software, so I'm looking forward to hearing about how you get on with that!

This is going to be exciting--to see the pieced quilt before it is even cut! I'm new to quilting with only three small pieces under my belt (a pieced throw, a round robin with my Mom and sisters and an applique wall hanging) and never owned a sewing machine until last year. So much to learn, therefore, being able to put Sedona Star into Corel Draw and make some trial-and-error choices on fabrics up front is great. I'm looking forward to this journey together and to all I'm going to learn from everybody who participates in the process. I'm a late starter because I spent 30 years in the Navy and quilting was just not part of my vocabulary. My sister, a 30-year quilter and Gold Star Charter member of TQS, saw an opportunity and with a gleam in her eye, sat me down in her studio for a week, taught me all the basics, made me practice a lot, made me do a nine-patch sampler from start to finish, proper cutting, piecing, miters, borders, stitch-in-the ditch, binding... and then signed me up for a complimentary 6-month membership to The Quilt Show. More recently, when I visit her, she encourages me to doodle om her mid-arm... what is she thinking now?

I really loved the blank pdf that was provided! I spent two days colouring it and choosing fabrics, and now I guess I pretty much HAVE to make the quilt!

Okay, I am a techie newbie here! I have down loaded the no-color pattern but do not know how to get it into paint. I am soooo jealous of all of you playing with the coloring of it! I want to play, too! Help, please!

Hopefully this will work for you:

                                1. Open your BOM file with the no color picture. It should be a PDF file (you will open this with Adobe Acrobat).
                                2. Click on Edit in the toolbar at the top of the display. In Edit, click on "Take a Snapshot." This should prompt you to select what you want to copy into paint. The moment you select the picture, it automatically takes a snapshot (in other words, it copies the BOM picture to a clipboard).
                                3. Keep the .pdf file open but go to "Start" at the bottom left of your screen. Select "All Programs," then select "Accessories" and finally select "Paint." This will open up your Microsoft Paint program.
                                4. Once you open Paint, you can either press the "Control" key and the letter V at the same time OR you can go to the toolbar at the top of your display and select "Paste." This should bring your BOM file into Paint.
                                5. Go to "File" at the top of your screen and select it, then select "Save as" and give your file a name saving it as a .PNG file.
                                6. Now you are ready to play with Paint!

Hope this helps (and that I did not miss something…). Cheers! Renata
