    Is your notebook ready?

While you are out shopping for Christmas gifts, you might want to make a note to also pick up a 3 ring notebook to keep all of your pattern information together. In her introduction Sue says:

Tip: Place each month’s pattern in a 3-hole notebook to keep the pattern pages all together.
In this way, you will be able to keep your patterns organized and refer to an earlier
lesson, if needed. You can also keep the complete list of fabric (found in the
Introduction) readily available for future use.
I would like to add that I also use 3 hole page sleeves in my notebook to keep my templates safely corralled in the proper month as well as monthly dividers. These can all be found at your local office supply store. If you don't already have one, you might also consider getting a circle template in the drafting department. It will allow you to make your own templates for any size circle you need for any appliqué project.

I've been doing that for all the BOM's - keeps everything together and organized. I'm liking the idea of a Christmas quilt. Maybe I'll do this year's BOM after all. I still haven't quilted the first one or finished the tops on the rest. Other projects keep getting in the way.

Another trick I do is save all the monthly PDF files to a folder on my computer. Then at the end of the year I burn a CD with the entire collection on it. That way I don't have more bulky notebooks taking over the house.

Great idea, Ken! Do you save your templates, or plan to make new ones if you make another quilt? If you save them, what do you store them in?
Inquiring minds want to know! I have entirely too many stuffed notebooks in my bookcase!

Margo, I don't save templates. I keep electronic copies, all in PDF format. Then I burn all the files onto the one CD.

                        Ken,
I've been saving all the patterns to folders on my computer but I never thought about a cd!! Thanks for the idea. That way, if the 'puter crashes, I won't lose anything.
I can print off templates as I need them from the cd. Good on ya, Ken

                          Margo,
I have the small "Perfect Circle" set by Karen Kay Buckley. How large is the largest circle on this quilt? I only see the berries and the floaters.

It's hard to say, Eileen! The size of the circles added in month 12 will depend on the width of the floater strip you add. Sue's directions call for strips cut 1-7/8", less seam allowance, which would be 1-3/8", but the circle doesn't necessarily have to be that large. And your floater may be a different width! So....the size isn't critical!

I love how Sue teaches us how to make things work out to be pleasing to our own tastes!

I have my 3 ring binder and page protectors AND I have my planner. Why I didn't think of it at first I don't know. I'll use it as my engagement calendar.
