    PIECING SEAMS IF Necessary

With fat quarters or when using your stash that might have smaller pieces that full width of fabric, it may be necessary to piece seams. Becky did it in her Scrap version and I did it in my Solid version when I made a very bad cut that I had to fix.

I don't think the seams will show at all when the quilt is done so they don't bother me at all.

Here are the Granny's Apron Blue and Gray Blue with Dots for Month 2. From the fat quarters of each I could cut 2.75" wide strips, get 6 14" long pieces and use the leftover pieces to make the remaining 2 needed. In the photo you can see the front and back of my pieced ones. Granny's Apron needed 2 seams each, Gray Blue only 1 seam.

NOTE: SEE ANOTHER SOLUTION IN THE NEXT POST IN THIS TOPIC

Today I received this email from Kathy C--it may help you cut the Gray Blue with Dots without having to piece those:

I thought of another solution for the Gray Blue with Dots, if you think it would work. Cut one 2.75 x 13 off the bottom of Gray Blue Dot (across the 18" side) then turn the material and cut seven 2.75 x needed length across the 20" length to get the total of 8. I already had mine cut before I thought of it, thinking I was working with a full fat quarter. If you think that will work you can pass that on to save some from piecing the fabric.

This photo shows my first Print Kit corner--there are two seams in this but they are very hard to see. After quilting they will be close to, if not invisible. I used a white from my stash for pieces 3 and 4.
