Thanks Barbara, The gals in my quilt group said the same thing. Gold it will be. I too think it looks
best. But I still love the way Linda Lee's black points look too. HelenW

I like the gold too. The black background looks really good and your fabrics are making it look like stained glass.

Thanks Lynnanne, The fabric line was Equinox by Benartex. When I saw it, I knew I would love
working with it. Since I am on a hexagon addiction right now, I am thinking I will make a hexagon
center, either pieced hexagon or applique and hexagons for the corner circles. I will have to play
around with the idea while waiting for month 3 directions. HelenW

Drafting a replacement for the applique circles next month. I think I will do EPP
center rosette and small circle star for the corners. I have wanted to do La
Passacagla for years, but never actually did anything but read the pattern.
The rosette center I found in the book seems perfect for the look I want.
First attempt was too large, but second I like. Now to draft the little shapes
and then audition fabrics. I think I will be ready to go when March 1 arrives.

Using fabrics from my stash but looking for similar colors to solid kit. Reducing to 75%.

Decided to make some samples to see if my EPP ideas would work for circle replacements. I had to watch a few
more you tubes on EPP. Question for Barbara, has TQS ever had a BOM with some of it being PP? It is rather
            addictive. HelenW

Do you mean English paper piecing, fabric wrapped around paper then whip stitched? We haven’t had one like that yet. The need for people to buy papers in advance might be an issue.

            #22
Yes , It is English paper piecing. I don't know if people would be interested. The printing of the papers would not
be any harder than printing a foundation piece block like we are doing. Lot of etsy sites have all kinds of shapes.
This page is from a site that charged $3 for the template pages or La Passacaglia. I used this page printed on
wash away stabilizer that does not need to be taken out of the project for my center circle replacement. HelenW

I really enjoyed working with the Vellum for these paper pieced sections.
It was the first time that I had tried it and the instructions from both Becky and Barbara made it turn out perfect!
I did use my add a quarter inch ruler to trim the pieces.
I am loving this quilt pattern and I am learning a lot of new techniques.

I used freezer paper and had no problem. I used some pins at the bottom. I figured that being a little more careful was easier than taking off the vellum.

I finished before the end of the month!! I don't know if I'm really happy with all my color choices - I didn't realize how close the red/purple colors were for the corners and the center sections that also went to the outside edge. I forgot they would be at the edge or I probably would have chosen something different. I'm not changing it now. I also didn't realize just how light the light green is compared with all the other colors around the edge. I'm not changing that, either.

We got our power back on after 14 1/2 hours, so I was able to iron everything finally. I can use the sewing machine while the whole house generator is running but can't use the iron as it draws too much power. I laid all the pieces on the floor then stood over them while I took the photo.

Finished month 2, corners are actually dark green, but look almost black in the picture, middle stripes are a sage and moss green but look brown thanks to low light re rainy, grey British weather! Looking forward to the next steps!

After quite a bit of traveling, I finally had time to catch up on the BOM. I wasn’t able to get the vellum but bought Carol Doak paper for the first time even though I am a freezer paper fan under normal circumstances because I hated removing paper. It’s working great, with the assistance of a light box. And the paper is so light I don’t think it will be difficult to remove.

Photo doesn't show as it is probably too large. Resize it smaller and try again.

I just completed my 2nd month. Not sure about the corners yet. . . may try various ideas. This is the first time I have used velum and it was an interesting discovery. I usually use newsprint or freezer paper. Looking for to all the creative ideas that people will come up with for the corners and centre.
