I'm considering doing the lone star for my ctr. What size did yours finish (10 or 12 inch)? I love lone stars since I'm a Texas gal. Thanks. Always good instructions from ya!

Tina, mine is a 16” star, with 2” borders to give the 20” center needed. I used the pattern from Oh My Stars! that I have written about several times. After making so many, it was a snap to make one more.

I’m not sure where else to ask this, so I will try here; I never received an email fromTQS about shipping of the replacement fabrics? Does that mean I am not eligible/or will not receive the replacements? I purchased the Grandmother (autumn) kit and am definitely short on fabrics. But since I did not receive an email last Monday (per Barbara’s last video), I am thinking I am not on the shipping list? Where can I go to inquire on this? I will be grateful for any help!

Kris, everyone who bought a kit gets the fabrics. Send an email to [email protected] and they will verify you are on the list.

I have watched your video twice and I can’t seem to understand why I have 2 pages each of pages 1-4…. I have cut 80 1 3/4 in.squares of blue parchment and 80 squares of yellow spice berry….then the next page shows cutting strips of these sizes….do you cut both or do I use the squares in place of strips? Sorry for the confusion..

You only need ONE copy of the four pages for the Four Patch in a Star blocks. If using the Kit, use the updated set. If using your own fabric use the original pattern: 9 pages for the Center Star and 4 pages for the Star blocks.
This was carefully explained in the LIVE broadcast October 29:

this is a comment, not a question. I found this BOM challenging in that the amount of work each month was so varied. Some months took me half a day; others several weeks. While I know I can work at my own pace; it was very frustrating as I like to complete each month before moving on to the next month. I see some people complete their quilts within a few weeks of the start; while others take much more time. This is my sixth BOM, I'm making them as wedding gifts for my grandchildren; the previous ones seemed to have even workloads for each month. I don't kif I will do 2026 or not--no more grandchildren.

I understand. Designers try to make the projects similar for each month but some take longer than others.

My advice for the 2026: if you LOVE IT, make it. I think I will make two, I love it that much.

I am working on Month 11. I have found that I do not have enough of Blue Parchment. Has anyone else had the same issue. I could only make 6 of the 6.5/2.5 and none of the 3/3.
I have been quilting for over 50 years and It would have been helpful if tips had been provided for the cutting. I typically start at the beginning of the cutting directions and cut according to directions. I am going to figure out how to cobble the smaller pieces and hope it does not show in the finished kit as I had hoped this would be a heirloom quilt.

Kit buyers have been sent emails explaining what fabrics are being sent. Blue parchment is one of them.

Marjorie, I too have the Autumn kit and cut my strips according to the directions, barely made it and now no longer have blue parchment for the correction to cut 3” strips instead of 2.5”. According to the email, they no longer have blue parchment and are sending a different fabric as a replacement. I really wanted to use the blue parchment and found some on the internet. Search using the number of the blue parchment and I bet you can find it, or you could use the replacement. LorryO

Barbara, I am re-making month 7 and doing month 11, 4 patch and a star block. After putting all the blocks on my design wall, I didn’t like month 7 stripes.) I seem to have missed over and over the adaption for how you cut the strip for the flying geese squares. Your “goose”fabric makes 4 squares out of the 4 3/4” square. Do you use this method to make all your squares for the next step or do you increase the sizing for the strip that subcuts into the squares for the next step. I have been using the squares from the strip directions for the wings this entire BOM and my FG wing part comes out wonky almost every time. Most of the time the left wing is slightly smaller than the right side even though the squares are the same size and I’m using quarter inch seams. Clarification please and thank you!

The Goose square is cut 4” as the pattern says. I cut the Wings squares from a large square, cut 4.5” or 4.75” if you want a little insurance. After drawing the diagonal lines on the back side of the square, cut the large square into 4 smaller squares. They will either be 2.25” as the pattern says, or 2.375” if cut from 4.75” square.
If the wings are not exactly where they should be, it is most likely they have moved during the sewing. Be sure the diagonal line is exactly on the diagonal then perhaps pin the wing squares securely to the goose fabric as you sew the 1/4” seam on both sides of the diagonal.
      Hope this helps.

I’m working on the 4 patch block for month 11 and followed the cutting instructions. I need 32 more side pieces to finish the 20 blocks. Did anyone have this problem? How many 4” squares do I need to make the needed pieces? I’m low on fabric and don’t want to make a mistake.

What side pieces do you mean?
A total of 20 C squares are needed to make 20 Four Patch in a Star Blocks. Two 4” strips should give those 20 C squares.
