Use thin batting, cotton, not polyester. I like Quilter's Request cotton, Request weight, the lightest. An 80/20 cotton/poly blend works too, as long as it's thin. Sufficient basting is critical--my least favorite part of the process but so important for good results. I use safety pins--place them 3-4" apart, trying to avoid lines you know you will quilt on from the beginning. I would stitch in the ditch down the lines of construction first, allowing you to take out many of the pins. Then I go back and add additional quilting in the blocks as needed.
Month 12 will be all about the finishing and quilting.

Am I correct that we do not yet have all the pattern pieces for this quilt? I was looking for the outermost piece of the border. I know we have the fan pieces and the inner quarter circle but I think we are still missing one piece. I would like to finish this quilt at my guild retreat in November and hope that the missing piece will show up before then.

All the pattern pieces are now available. I chose to provide the background shape for the outer Fan border in Month 2. It was not supposed to be released until Month 11. Those who bought the acrylic templates had that shape and I wanted it available to all so you could be working on the outer border throughout the year.

We must be up to the same point of constructing the quilt because I have the same question. However looking closely at the quilt, mind you I could be wrong, but the four corners look like they are half square triangles to me.

I’m struggling to transfer the appliqué designs so this is what I have been using. Keep your fingers crossed when put it under running water

No photos are visible. Probably too large, resize smaller and try again.
