STAR POINTS STAR C — Cutting Error Month 6

Month 6 has been updated to correct cutting of the TAFFY fabric for Star C points. ONE strip 2.5” is needed to cut the 32 triangles made from Template B.

Barbara,I’m having an awful time with the large star. I have marked each point, pinned and still can’t seem to make it work.i cut my own template, measured it and it is the same as the pattern. The plastic templates come with the kit have rounded(cut off ) corners. The paper template does not. Could this be the issue? I’m ready to stick 6.5 inch squares in where these stars go.ha.

The blunted corners are supposed to help with alignment. I am rarely successful cutting this unit. You can always draw your own paper piecing pattern. I have good luck with that method.

I found that making a 6" finished star using the V Block ruler worked perfectly!!

I have just finished another quilt -- I have the kit for BOM 2023, but I'm so behind I don't know if I should start from the beginning or pick up with month 7? I'd appreciate your opinion.

Month 7 is a good place to start if you are sure you’re making the entire quilt. Those wide borders are made in Months 7, 8 and 9. You will want to review ALL the previous videos since this wide border has stems and leaves like have been shown earlier. As you work on the wide borders, you can start to see what is done in each earlier month and see how similar those steps are. The pieced borders made in month 5 are repeated in month 10 so it will be easy to do both at the same time later, month 10.

starting now with Month 7 also allows you to stay current with all the questions/answers that come up now rather than have to go way back on the Forum months from now.
