Hello, I am a little confused at the moment. I was using a creative grids 60degree triangle ruler and I think i cut these 2 7/8” triangles incorrectly. Did I?

They are incorrect. It is not a 60 degree angle. Use the template shape in the pattern.

My tri-recs ruler set is an exact match for the 2 templates. I think I used these in a Bonnie Hunter quilt. I offset them from the templates to make it easier to see. But they are exact.

Tri-Recs are the correct angle--not 60 degrees, just accurate.

I made a test block and they work. Just have to be careful of bias edge and go slow.

I did the first 4 this way, using the 4-at-a-time method that Barbara mentions in her blog. Worked great

Huge typo in the instructions for this month. It says for background fabric to cut 40 squares then cut them into 80 half square triangles. The problem is that there are 160 star point half square triangles, so we really need 80 squares cut into 160 half square triangles! There are 20 small blocks & each uses 8 half square triangles which equals the 160 needed.

If people follow your blog instructions, it won't matter, but anyone following the pattern as written will have a major issue without cutting 40 more of those squares.

And this is why I look over the math for EVERY pattern that I am making. I know that pattern makers try their very best, but I have found so many typos over the years, that I never cut without checking all math.

Peach and Purple fabrics are cut 4 1/4”

Your measurements make 4 flying geese. That is the number in one star. There are 20 Star A’s, 12 peach and 8 purple.

Now you can do the math.

What is the finished measurement on the flying geese block, if I am following Barbara’s way of construction. I don’t have a flying geese ruler

It appears your Flying Geese unit isn't 2.5" x 1.5".
I will demo how to cut this on the LIVE broadcast today, in less than an hour from now.
