Is anyone excited yet?
It's pretty quiet on here. Is anyone getting excited to begin Homeward Bound January 1? In testing the pattern, I am done through Month 5.
Around the first of each month I will post a blog with tips for that month. There will be some videos from designer Sarah Fielke. I will also do a LIVE broadcast around the first of each month to do quick demos and answer your questions.
This is the BEST place to ask questions so everyone in the world working on Homeward Bound will benefit from the question, answer and comments.
You will want to watch the show featuring Sarah Fielke, it will air January 1 to get us started on this beautiful project.Barbara Black

I’m excited! This will be my first BOM and first with the Quilt Show. I’m going to be running a bit behind as I’m about to have hand surgery, but I will spend my time planning fabrics and colors as I watch everyone else start the year off.

I was having my doubts about this year's BOM, and I'm not finished with last year's either. But I enjoy the process and the camaraderie, and a friend wants to join in this time and we plan to get together and sew together. So I kept looking at the picture of the quilt, and decided it was the colors I wasn't happy with. So today, I went to my LQS and attended their holiday party. Their fall fabric is on 30% off, and I got another 10% off through one of the door prizes. They also had punch and cookies. So now I'm excited. I'll be downloading that pattern as soon as it's available. My little houses will all have beautiful gray herringbone flannel roofs and my doves will be dove gray. I even got plaid flannel for the backing. Like I need a flannel quilt in Florida. But hey, it's going to be a blast!Ellen Lindow

I am very excited about starting this! I have been a member for many years, but this will be my first BOM.I think it is the colors that have attracted me. Plus I feel more confident in applique after quilting for 19 years LOL I didn't buy the kit.
I did notice in the intro pages, it mentions stem requirements were at the end after the fabric listings, but they don't seem to be there.Carol in SW Michigan

Check the Homeward Bound BOM..January is uploaded.
I HIGHLY recomend you do a practice block. Sarah gives great directions, but I did miss cut a few steps (reading too fast if you know what I mean). She just has a slightly different way of saying things that you have to read a few times.
Small pieces.. take your time sewing and pressing. Mine block was spot on. Recomend small tags on sizes to assist with piecing.
I look foward to doing her way of applique, but will save that for another day.
Will go on and make my regular block.
Have FUN!Linda H

Okay, I'm in!! My husband got me a Quilt Show membership for Christmas this year as a subtle hint to get my lazy self back into the studio. I'm struggling with motivation so hopefully joining the BOM for 2023 will get me sewing! Nothing like a group of fellow quilters and deadlines to help you get things done. I've been quilting for 30 years and I've done 3 BOM's. I learned so much from them that I bet this won't be any different. Besides finishing by the end of the year, I'm challenging myself to pick out a new colorway and only use fabrics from my stash. For the new palette, I'm choosing an art quilt I love and then determining the colors from there...shrug...see where it takes me! This should be fun...I haven't been part of a forum in forever!Nina-Marie
