Barbara, I have a question about cutting the borders. My diamonds are 5.75 long. Instead of cutting 6 inch wide border strips, I would like to give myself enough extra to have plenty of room for binding, without the binding being right on top of the diamond points. Do you think cutting the border width at 6.5 inches would be too much?

No, I think that would be fine, as long as you are not using the Kit striped fabric. There is enough of that fabric to cut eight 6" strips and seam them to size.
The diamonds in the pattern are 5.25" tall FINISHED. If yours are 5.75" tall FINISHED you must be using a different Diamond pattern.
I don't want others to be confused--the pattern Diamonds, both appliqued and pieced are 5.25" tall FINISHED.Barbara Black

[;n894212]I'm sorry...mine are 5.25 inches tall. Does the 6.5 inch width still work?
Yes. That will give just a little "breathing room" between the diamonds and the binding. I think it will be fine.Barbara Black

I really need help ! I could not cut the 8th strip from my stripe kit fabric. I ordered from Etsy, but the gray color is a little different.
so how much can I safely cut off of the strips I have cut to piece the 7th strip ? I need corner squares from this fabric too, correct?
corner squares are what size? Am I in trouble and need to stop the appliqué of the diamonds? Please adviseSusan Skeel

The pattern instructions are to cut the strips 6” wide. The video I did on appliquéing these borders and my blog and the LIVE explained you need to have the right side border sewn together to know what size you need to cut the background fabric. Pattern says 62.5”, this allows no amount for shrinkage from appliqué. I would cut them about 64” if I were going to appliqué. Trim to correct size after the appliqué is done.
The four corner squares are cut 6” square. If you are leaving the borders 6.5” your corner squares have to be 6.5”.
Earlier in this Topic there was discussion that you should have enough leftover from the 7 strips you cut already to piece the 8th strip together, it would just have several seams—cover the seams with Diamonds. Scroll back to read those comments.Barbara Black
I am late to start this quilt but need the size of the diamond and Dresden paper pieces to order from paper pieces.com. Hope I asked the question in the correct place. I tried to search to see if it was previously asked but could find no information. Thank you
You will find the specifics in the back of the Introduction/ Fabric Requirements pages.
I am in Houston for two weeks working so don’t have that at my fingertips.
