Barbara, when I look at the Applique 8 file, it sis linked to the Month 5 block. What am I doing wrong.
Block 8 is the Month 6 Applique block. The photo for that block is not correct but the pattern is correct.

UPDATE: the photo has been Corrected.

I am working on the shoofly block. I wanted the background fabric to match the vase background fabric. So I made the vase block then started on the shoofly that goes in the same month (month 5 block 6) I got to the end of cutting only to find I dont have enough background fabric to finish the shoofly block with the same background as the vase block. I can make 6 but not 8 or 9.

Now I'm worried going forward. I don't want to be in the middle of say the border only to find I have to change the background fabric during the process.

I'd like to hear any ideas that does not include doing my shoofly block over again -- the backgrounds that came with the kit are similar but some really don't go together at all -- ones more grey, the other more brown. some I don't have enough to do any whole block just scraps e.g., to do a half square triangle. Has anyone done a shoofly block using more than one background?

The Diamond border fabric in the Kit was specifically marked to be saved for that border.

I use a variety of background fabrics in pieced blocks all the time. The background in these Shoo fly blocks are small and I doubt you will notice much variation once the quilt is completely done. Pick a fabric you like and use that for some of the backgrounds.
