    BOM wrinkled fabric

Washed my fabric and it is now a wrinkled mess. I have tried using steam, wetting and Easy Press. Wrinkles are so bad it is about unusable. Could the problem be my washer, it is front loading.

Terri, Did you buy the kit? Maybe try washing again, and treating like linen. Take out of dry before it is dry and iron it dry. I know
that is a lot of work, but it might work. HelenW

Yes, I have kit, tried rewashing, damp drying and ironing. Not much help. Will try again and try steam in iron this time. Wondered if front loader is the problem. The pieces came out all bunched with huge keep wrinkles that do not iron out. Thank you for help. Terri

Terri, I have a front loader and I know it spins super fast which might cause the wrinkles. May rewash on a delicate cycle. I can feel your frustration. That is a lot of money to not have it useable. Have you contacted customer service to see if they can do anything for you. HelenW

Thank you, will try delicate cycle tomorrow. The damage may be done but a lesson has been learned. Will wash by hand next time. Best wishes and thank you for your help and time. Terri

Terri, so I can pass this along to our fabric buyer, was it a particular fabric that caused you problem or the entire kit? The Kit came from one fabric manufacturer but different lines, obviously; so, if there was one or two in particular, we would like to make note so we don't use that in another kit.

All the two tone woven fabric. If I am the only one with problem then I am the problem and not the line of fabric. I did the corner clips, they just got in a knot in the wash with very deep hard wrinkles. If I use this fabric again I will treat it kinder and wash in sink that should avoid the wrinkling. Thank you for your time and interest. Terri

I am using the kit fabric, and have discovered I am not a fan of shot cotton. It is lovely fabric, but the wrinkles are hard to get out, and it frays really bad. I have used a lot of FrayCheck. I, too, cut the corners of the fabrics before washing, and all I got was a big tangled, wadded up mess of threads. I would advise anyone just starting out with these fabrics to maybe serge or zigzag the edges before washing. And, maybe use the delicate cycle, but that’s all “water under the bridge” now. I do think that quilting will hide some of the wrinkles, don’t you?

Jennifer I agree with you about shot cotton. I thought maybe it was just me who had problems with fraying. My heat goes out to those who washed it !

I too used the kit with the shot cotton. I did have the same issue and in hind sight, I would not have washed my fabric. Lesson learned. I did end up taking the fabric out of the washer and separating each piece, trimming loose edges. I put in the dryer for about 15 min. and ironed each piece mostly damp. It worked for me, but I will never purchase any shot fabric again.

You may want to try the ironing spray Flatter when ironing the shot cottons. Their website describes it this way: "This starch free smoothing spray relaxes wrinkles and freshens fabrics". This is not an exaggeration... I keep it by my iron and use it regularly for pesky wrinkles. Good luck!
