    Final border--SEE UPDATED ANSWER BELOW!

    Barb,

i prefer to cut my borders on the straight of grain. Is there a way that we can get the measurement for the width of the border strips? From there I can figure the length of each border.

    Barb,

sorry should have have explained why I need the border strip measurement. I want to count the borders before my background fabric is too small to get the border strips cut on the lengthwise grain.

I wrote about this before but can't find the answer now.

UPDATE: BORDERS ARE CUT 5" WIDE

The pattern calls for cutting the borders 5" wide x Width of Fabric and piecing them together--it will take 7 of those. If you prefer Lengthwise grain borders, cut them 5" x about 72"--two yards. The quilt is about 70" square. You can always cut the borders wider if you prefer.

If not cutting on length wise grain, we would need about 7 strips WOF?

        So we need 4 pieces - 4.5 x 72?

Yes, CUT 5" WIDE--it will take 7 strips, width of fabric, to make the four borders. You can simply save 1 yard of fabric now to have available for cutting the borders at the end, instead of having those 7 strips to keep track of.

NO--I just UPDATED THE INFORMATION--cut them 5" wide--or wider, your choice. or SAVE two yards to have available for borders at the end.
