    Shot cottons

I have never used the shot cottons before. Normally,I always wash my fabric. After reading about the trials and tribulations of the shot cottons raveling etc., I want to avoid washing. This is a wallhanging. Ha. Can anyone tell me if they know if the shot cottons tend to bleed?

Sharongail, I did not buy the kit, but there were lots of reference to washing the fabric way back at the beginning. If you go to Index> BOM 2021>on 5 pages back, is the topic
washing fabrics. Also Barbara Black did a video on it. I took a screen shot of her reference to it. There is lots of info out there already. Most are using Color catchers and
dividing into dark and lights. HelenW

Thanks.I did watch the video...the info is amazing to read for several reasons. Ha. I picked a very deep purple shot cotton, cut a one inch square, pressed it with a dry iron, remeasured and it was exactly 1 inch. I then spray starched it,ironed on white fabric, remeasured and still it remained an inch. I wonder why some are shrinking for others....

Sharongail, There are several reasons cotton shrinks. The temperature of the water it is washed in, and the heat of the dryer. It is not unusual to lose an inch or more on
a yard of fabric when I wash with hot water to set the color with Synthrapol and dry it hot in the dryer. I want to get any shrinking done before cutting out the pieces. HelenW
